Talk:Drum machine
If you use the drum machine whilst falling-down drunk, it gives a combat adventure (Giant Sandworm). I've no idea quite how to document it so I'll leave it to the smrt people

Item Type
Right now it is NOT a quest item. It doesn't say quest item in the description, and it is listed under "Miscellaneous Items". This is probably an error, but it is still the case. --Noglorp 17:40, 26 June 2007 (CDT)
When the Drums drop...
I'm wondering if it's possible to get a Drum machine before encountering Walk Without Rhythm. Any help? Possibly a Note on the main article page?--Animus 01:41, 8 July 2007 (CDT)
- Yes, it is. I spent some time adventuring at the oasis before returning to the hot desert, and already had some drum machines before said quest. --Nappa 06:51, 8 July 2007 (CDT)
Drop rates
Does anyone know the drop rates on these things? Because a level 20+ fairy and I have been getting no luck in over 50 adventures.
Trophy hunting
I don't know if there's a trophy for using drum machines/fighting sand worms, but I thought I'd try it. How many have people used? --xcorvis 10:31, 17 July 2007 (CDT)
- I've tried using well over 100 drum machines, no trophy. It also doesn't seem like the guy who collected 808 of them in his display case has a trophy, so that's probably not likely either. --xcorvis 09:57, 6 August 2007 (CDT)
References
There are a few extraneous references at the bottom. I think it's pretty clear it's a reference to Dune. --NoHassles 04:07, 19 August 2007 (CDT)
- I am tempted to agree. Especially the bit about Tremors, which is a cheap Dune knockoff on Earth with far less politics.--Invariel 08:26, 4 November 2007 (CST)
- It's become obvious that the Tremors fans aren't going to let it go even though it's blatantly wrong, so I modified the last Tremors reference slightly. --xcorvis 09:22, 9 November 2007 (CST)
- To be fair, the giant sandworm itself does contain a Tremors reference (in the Fumble message). --Quietust (t|c) 10:00, 9 November 2007 (CST)
- That's a good point. I revised the reference a bit. Trying to compromise. --xcorvis 19:43, 11 November 2007 (CST)
- compromise is always good.--Blood panther 17:27, 18 November 2007 (CST)

Text Dump
You head out into the desert, turn up the bass on your drum machine and set it to pound out a steady rhythm. Soon, the rushing of sand fills your ears, and you barely manage to jump out of the way as a gigantic sandworm erupts from beneath the surface with an unearthly howl. You run alongside the worm and fasten your hooks to its side, pulling back one of its rings of chitinous armor and exposing the soft flesh underneath. The worm quickly rolls to keep its exposed flank away from the sand -- you are dragged up onto the worm's back, clutching the hooks in a vice-grip of fear. Surveying the landscape from the worm's back, several hundred yards in the air, you let out an exhilarated whoop and give the worm a thump with your heels. It howls again and shoots off into the desert at top speed as you laugh triumphantly with the wind whipping at your clothes and hair.
You do donuts for a few hours, surveying the area from high up and at high speed.
Eventually the worm gets tired, and vanishes into the sand. And dammit, your hooks were still on there! Oh well.
Desert exploration COMPLETE!
new message for drum machine, with incomplete desert exploration beforehand, and a new area unlocked, (a small pyramid, in desert beach)
Using after 100% exploration
So when I tried to use this with 100% already done:
- the first drum kit with hooks in inventory didn't trigger the riding text, and so I equipped them for the second time.
- The second time (equipped) I got exploration complete, despite having already gotten it.
Not really sure if there's much point to that, but there you go. Techhead7890 (talk) 07:06, 17 February 2020 (UTC)
