(No idea how to do this, never created an article before. Please, PLEASE, someone make it nice. --Nossidge 16:51, 25 June 2007 (CDT))

  • No worries--Anmbia 05:53, 26 June 2007 (CDT)

XXX EDIT XXX Nevermind, I worked out the problem I was having. Thanks.

--Elskan 15:45, 27 June 2007 (CDT)

HP loss

I think the HP loss actually scales to your Muscle, so that you may be able to avoid Beaten Up via effects that directly add to your max HP, like Reptilian Fortitude. Anybody care to test out my theory?

With exactly 9 hit points going into this Adventure (I got sick of wasting MP healing to full only to have to spend more Meat buying MP), I was hit for 18 hit points by Dr. Awkward. Also, 48 (94) Muscle, and 94 max hit points. And I was beaten up for four turns. --Invariel 10:20, 19 July 2007 (CDT)

My level 28 disco bandit got hit for 455 HP, but had 478 and avoided beaten up. Is there a damage max?

Shelf Order

I get the connection with the diary, but where does the ketchup hound fit in? I'm just wondering "how" we got to the point of knowing that it is where it is on the shelf.

Glad to see I'm not the only person wondering about this. --FauxReal 19:58, 7 July 2007 (CDT)

Palindrome was "God, a red nugget, a fat egg under a dog". Therefore god, nugget, dog, egg.--Ryo Sangnoir 10:41, 8 July 2007 (CDT)

  • I don't know if it's a reference or not, but this exact palindrome in in Weird Al's song "Bob".

Should it be noted that, when you put the items in the correct order, you lose the three quest items? (The ketchup hound "leaps out of the way" and stays in your inventory.) Or is this that note... ;) --Terion 12:49, 23 August 2007 (CDT)

Yes. I shouldn't have to go to the talk page to get basic information like this. If I had known to begin with that the hound survives, I wouldn't have refused the quest six times in a row because I hadn't yet found the guitar pick. Please put the information up on the main page. Kilyle 03:58, 9 February 2008 (CST)

ETA: I see upon actually reading the quest text that it does say the dog jumps out of the way. This is irrelevant, as you get to the point where you don't even skim the text anymore. It still should be noted near the bottom of the page. Kilyle 04:00, 9 February 2008 (CST)

Beaten Up Notes

This appears to be one of those adventures you can suffer 4 turns of Beaten Up from; following two rests in my Campsite immediately after (and I know it was 2), I still have 2 adventures of Beaten Up remaining. But I won't edit the page until someone confirms.--Garlyle 04:52, 18 July 2007 (CDT)

  • That would be normal; most adventures where you lose HP and get Beaten Up cause 4 turns. Losing combat does too; you run out of HP, get 4 turns of Beaten Up, and then the adventure counter ticks down to three at the end of that combat adventure. This is the same mechanism that they use where a monster can give you a 1-adventure effect that will go away at the end of combat (or the Disco dance chains as well.)--Terion 12:34, 23 August 2007 (CDT)

Now, if the beatun up note is going to be there, shouldn't it be "use" instead of "fail to use"; you don't lose any HP (or have any other effect, for that matter) when you put the items in the wrong places.--Terion 12:34, 23 August 2007 (CDT)

You're right, whoever was writing that was probably not paying attention to his words. Or they were an idiot. Either way, I'll change that now, because you're definitely right. (I just did this adventure, myself, after all) --HikaruYami 21:35, 29 September 2007 (CDT)

A dog

This can't currently be tested, but when it can, will a pompadour'd puppy be able to replace the ketchup hound? --Keeko1642 11:24, 27 July 2007 (CDT)

While attempting to complete the level 11 quest (hardcore) I gathered all 4 required pieces. Before adventuring again in the Palindrome, however, I proceeded to adventure in the mine to gather ore for the pagoda. A few adventures later, I used my ketchup hound a brand new pagoda. I then returned to the palindrome to adventure about 20 times without once seeing Drawn Onward. This was surprising, since the adventure seems super likely in my experience with the quest. Lo' and behold, I did not find drawn onward until the adventure after I found a 2nd ketchup hound. Is anyone in position to test this out? Hoopity 23:23, 10 April 2008 (CDT)

Most likely bad rng, last run it took me 14 adv from first ketchup hound drop(had other items earlier) to get this super (un)likely adventure. Ended up with 6 ketchup hounds. --Karneval 19:44, 12 March 2009 (UTC)

Just a possibility, but does this adventure happen before you have all the required items, or not? I've never (3/3) had it happen before I had the items. Input? --Irregular 19:51, 4 May 2008 (CDT)

I neither (think I), but shortly after having all items, it occurred. I remember in a past life that I had all 4, and it came to me almost all the time. So yes, I think you're right.--Blargh (talk) 17:54, 7 March 2013 (UTC)

  • I've never (81/81) had it happen before I had all four items. --Club (#66669) (Talk) 21:27, 7 March 2013 (UTC)

Won't appear if you have low HP?

Twice now this adventure apparently refused to appear after 20-30 turns while keeping my HP just high enough to survive a single hit so I wouldn't lose too much at being beaten up here. But when I healed all the way, this adventure almost immediately appeared. Have I just been suffering bad RNG, or has something like this happened to anyone else? --Clubbing Heart-Shaped Spade of Diamond (talk) 20:35, 27 June 2013 (UTC)
