I think it would be nice if each of the discovery lists included the total number of verified recipes in the list, so people can know if they have a complete list.--Muhandes 07:55, 2 November 2008 (UTC)

I've been keeping a count on my page, I'll add them in. --Sparksol (t|c) 08:32, 2 November 2008 (UTC)

Tablifiying the Discovery Lists

Do we want to make the pages easier to reference? for example for each sub-section:

fishy fish fishy fish
dehydrated caviar + displaced fish
gnatloaf gnatloaf
filet of tangy gnat ("fotelif") + ancient spice
herb brownies herb brownies
herbs + Uncle Jick's Brownie Mix
long pork chop sandwiches long pork chop sandwiches
black pepper + long pork
wet stew wet stew
bird rib + lion oil

Of course the template would be renamed to something like {{discovery}} from {{test}}first. It makes the page easier to quickly line up against the in game list, plus lists saves needed to lick to a bunch of individual pages for making uncompleted ones. Items with multiple recipes would be then differentiated on the list, like plain pizza, but we'd also have to try and order the ingredients as they are the in-game list{s}. --JRSiebz (|§|) 06:19, 16 November 2008 (UTC)

Sounds good to me. I'd go along with that. --Sparksol (t|c) 07:04, 16 November 2008 (UTC)

Looks good. Maybe we should number sections to make it easier to count the total recipes? We should probably merge Cooking Discoveries with cooking to reduce duplication too. --BagatelleT/C 03:45, 17 November 2008 (UTC)
I think merging wouldn't be such a good idea. The cooking page has quite a bit more on it than just the discoveries, like the hi and chow meins, some raw and stand-alone foods. I'll agree that reducing duplication would be good, but how specifically to do it? --Sparksol (t|c) 08:56, 18 November 2008 (UTC)
I'm not sure we mean the same thing when we say "merge." What I mean is that any cooked (discovered) items' extraneous content should be put into the appropriate discoveries article. I can see how bits of this might be harder to accomplish if we want to match the format in-game as closely as possible, but if we're going to stick images in, we may as well reduce the amount of duplicated content (I think Meat Pasting is currently 100% the same as Meat-Pasting Discoveries right now, except the former has explanatory text. This is nutty in terms of maintenance.) Any content that doesn't fit on the discoveries page can be left on the original page, and perhaps linked to from a note in the appropriate discoveries section (e.g., X and sour sauces can be upgraded to Y meins). Or we could at least figure out some way of presenting the content in a static fashion (like how Template:Improved mixers is used in a couple of different places). As it stands now, when TPTB add a cooking recipe, it could potentially have to be added on three or four different pages (the cooking page, discoveries, applicable category/skill pages for Saucerors). This is a recipe (heh) for Wiki outdatedness/editing burnout. --BagatelleT/C 04:26, 19 November 2008 (UTC)

New Discovery Tab?

I noticed a new discoveries tab labeled "miscellaneous" (Log in and check it out). I haven't noticed any information on the wiki about it yet, so just bringing it to everybody's attention. --Grogum 07:08, 1 February 2010 (UTC)

  • Hah! I suggested this months ago. It's used for multi-use things, like palm fronds and mummy wrappings. --TechSmurf 07:10, 1 February 2010 (UTC)
    1. go, gadget palm-frond-price-spike
    2. no one knows the mind of Jick: "it should be used for..."
    3. i really hope that doesn't mean i have to farm effing duct tape again --Evilkolbot 12:09, 1 February 2010 (UTC)
Or god forbid... clingfilm! -- sulfur 15:26, 1 February 2010 (UTC)
