Talk:Cookbookbat
Not to panic anyone but this Familiar seems to not only have an unknown amount of random recipes drop, but also each recipe has it's own unique name, description and use message. I don't know if these recipes are one time use kinda deals or if they reset on ascension. Everyone needs to be super careful to write down all the details about them before they potentially get lost forever (Like a dope I already forgot to write two of them down).--Tombot (talk) 00:46, 3 November 2022 (UTC)
- I think it's almost certain they do not reset on ascension. They get added to your crafting discoveries like any other recipe. --Aventuristo (talk) 02:44, 3 November 2022 (UTC)
- You don't forget these recipes once you learn them, no. --wRAR (talk) 06:33, 3 November 2022 (UTC)
- Also there are 15 recipe items and 15 craftable items. --wRAR (talk) 06:51, 3 November 2022 (UTC)
I got about five different quests to get ingredients from monsters today (five that I completed I mean), but I think the page says 3. There's obviously some kind of discrepancy here, did I get more quests for a reason or is the info on the main page incorrect?--Tombot (talk) 00:02, 10 November 2022 (UTC)
- I getting even more of them now, is there even a limit? maybe it's dependant of weight?.--Tombot (talk) 00:27, 10 November 2022 (UTC)
- I don't think there is a limit. If you read the page as saying only 3 quests are possible, that's not what it meant. --wRAR (talk) 19:39, 10 November 2022 (UTC)
I can confirm that ascending allows you to get another recipe that day. --Laytruce (talk) 13:03, 11 November 2022 (UTC)
I got another of the same recipe I already knew, first time that's happened so far. This is annoying because I still need the roasted vegetable of Jarlsberg recipe in order to make any of the legendary stuff. Fortunately I can sell it in the mall for a small amount of meat.--Tombot (talk) 15:02, 15 November 2022 (UTC)
- It happened to me today, too. I'm still missing 3 tier 1 recipes and got a Pizza of Legend recipe, which I already know. --Laytruce (talk) 14:02, 19 November 2022 (UTC)

Recipe text depository
This is hopefully going to stop my empty sieve of a brain from leaking any further. I'm going to put the name, the description and the use text of every recipe I get from this point and or until we get them all.
- Recipe of Before Yore: St. Pete's sneaky smoothie
- There will be a little something extra in these smoothies, just for you. *wink* *wink* (It's whey protein.)
- A fruit a day keeps your moxie in play.
- You learn to craft a new item: St. Pete's sneaky smoothie .
- There will be a little something extra in these smoothies, just for you. *wink* *wink* (It's whey protein.)
From the ASS Discord:
- baked veggie ricotta: Cheese, veggies, bake.
- Boris's beer: Even assured by the recipe, you are not sure you would ever drink this.
- Boris's bread: With all this yeast, this recipe is sure to rise above.
- Deep Dish of Legend: You hear the sound of celestial trumpets as you read and learn this deep dish recipe.
- honey bun of Boris: Even Boris craved something sweet now and then.
- Jarlsberg's vegetable soup: It's a recipe for a delcious blend of magic and veggies!
- ratatouille de Jarlsberg: You commit the ancient art of fearlessly cooking vegetables to your long-term memory.
- roasted vegetable focaccia: You can probably make this.
- roasted vegetable of J.: Vegetables + Heat = Delicious, who knew!
- St. Pete's sneaky smoothie: A fruit a day keeps your moxie in play.
And you can see the item descriptions in the mall. --wRAR (talk) 07:09, 6 November 2022 (UTC)
Once Cookbookbat specifies a certain ingredient in a certain location from a certain monster:
- Does the autumn-aton grab it when Cookbookbat isn't the active familiar? (even if its just 1) No. But it will still have an extra cookbookbat item.
- Can the monster drop it if fighting one without Cookbookbat? No
- Does the specified ingredient change if it isnt acquired? Yes.

Spading for 1.5x Food Fairy
Hey all, wanted to note down the spading done on the familiar's quality. On the ASS discord, user Nasurte used the Perfectly Fair Coin and found that blackberries dropped at +1% food/booze/item with a 50 pound Cookbookbat and did not drop at +0% food/booze/item. We also did spading without the perfectly fair coin, and found that in 100 adventures against the magical fruit bat enemy with -70% overall item drop modifier, 0% extra food drop, 0% extra booze drop, and a 22 pound Cookbookbat, a user got 64/22/24 of a set of 50%/10%/20% drops. The expectation for those at a 1.5x fairy would be 65/13/26. Obviously a tad bit over on the 10% lemon drop, but basically spot on for the other two items and well within error range. Combining the PFC + non-PFC spading I think we can pretty firmly call this spaded. I'll take the (?) out in the article. --Captain Scotch (talk) 03:30, 8 November 2022 (UTC)
Once per Lifetime
Legend food says "You may only eat one of those per lifetime." upon second helping.
Does lifetime mean across all incarnations? Or once per ascension? Can someone confirm/deny? --Obeliks (talk) 23:33, 8 November 2022 (UTC)
Recipe drops
Could someone confirm what this (copied from the current version of the page) means? "There is a protection against getting a duplicate recipe before getting all of them [...]" To me it seems like this is false. I've been keeping track of my drops, and I have these (some sold already):
- Recipe of Before Yore: baked veggie ricotta (2)
- Recipe of Before Yore: Calzone of Legend (1)
- Recipe of Before Yore: Deep Dish of Legend (2)
- Recipe of Before Yore: Pizza of Legend (6)
- Recipe of Before Yore: plain calzone (4)
- Recipe of Before Yore: roasted vegetable focaccia (2)
Judging from the mall prices, the Boris drops (beer & bread) seem a lot more rare. I'm currently playing a muscle class and today I got another Pizza of Legend. My guess would be that these drops are completely random and perhaps some recipes have less chance of dropping than others. Csabo (talk) 18:29, 20 November 2022 (UTC)
- It's odd, it took quite a while until I got a duplicate (the 13th one was my first duplicate, with only 3 recipes left to learn). Right now I've learned 14 recipes from 20 drops, which would be really unlikely if they're just random. Can't say I'm seeing any connection between class and drops. I'm a muscle class, still missing the honey bun, and my duplicates are all over the place. --Laytruce (talk) 17:13, 26 November 2022 (UTC)
Mumming Trunk
Seems odd that the cookbookbat isn't undead (since it's a mummy), and even odder that it isn't flying (since it's a bat). --Baltar (talk) 19:36, 23 November 2022 (UTC)
- The page says that it gets the bonus for the beezlebub costume, so it counts as flying at the very least. What I don't understand is why it counts as having clothes, maybe it's a hardback with a book cover?--Tombot (talk) 20:25, 23 November 2022 (UTC)
- wait a minute, why are there different category pages for familiars with wings and flying familiars? Are those not the same thing?--Tombot (talk) 21:05, 23 November 2022 (UTC)
- Evidently not. The Star Starfish, for example, has no wings but flies. And the cookbookbat has wings but apparently doesn't fly, despite various in-game messages describing it as flapping, flitting, and dancing around in the air. --Baltar (talk) 23:51, 23 November 2022 (UTC)
