Dead Clans
- after Day1dreamer's recent edits, i checked a few more clans to see if the external page, or indeed the clan, still existed. based on extensive sampling of the first five, it would seem that a good 40% do not. perhaps a clean-up exercise is in order. --Evilkolbot 11:17, 20 October 2007 (CDT)
- I'll sweep through later today and get rid of the dead sites. If I'm feeling really ambitious, I'll snip disbanded clans, too. --TechSmurf 11:54, 20 October 2007 (CDT)
- If anyone's wondering where their clan listing/sites went: First, I ran each clan through the clan search. If I couldn't come up with it from the initial search, I broke down the title and checked for it that way. If there still wasn't anything, I removed the whole entry. If there was, I checked the associated sites, and removed dead links. Also, if a had only a few characters, and they were all inactive, the clan was removed. --TechSmurf 22:41, 20 October 2007 (CDT)
I am wondering if it is time to do this again - I know that SPNG's website has gone away for sure. --Hammered 10:38, 21 May 2014 (EDT)
- It was over two weeks with no response, so I did it myself .--Hammered 14:08, 7 June 2014 (EDT)
Page Cleanup
Here's what I did in my latest edit to this page:
- I removed clan websites and forums that have not changed since 2009.
- I removed clan forums that required a username and password.
My reasoning is that neither of these are helpful anymore; someone viewing this page is likely trying to find out more about a clan, and an old, outdated website or forum won't be very informative. Also also, a forum that requires people to log in will also not tell anyone viewing this page much about the clan. Also, does anyone have time to run through the remaining clans through the in-game clan search (see what TechSmurf did above)? That might catch some things that I missed. --Oneforfortytwo 18:09, 1 April 2012 (CEST)
