Talk:Attention -- A Tent!

I've seen a slightly different text for "Slip in the back, Jack". Not castagnets, but "a drum":

As you try to enter the tent through the back, you're stopped by a thin hobo in a lavender suit.
"Hey, you can't come in here," he says."Why not?" you say, "Who are you to tell me I can't go into this tent?"
"I'm the stage manager in charge of this performance," he says, "and as the stage manager in charge of this performance, I can tell you for damned certain that you're not going on stage without a drum."
You stomp off in a huff, with the wind out of your sails.

...and i had 'washboard'. (was wearing Joe's bangles at the time) --Snarl 02:16, 18 June 2008 (CDT)

It's different kinds of instruments. You should try adventuring again with an appropriate instrument in your inventory and/or equipped.--Thraden 03:42, 18 June 2008 (CDT)

Does it work when your class instrument is in your inventory but not equipped? --Flargen 02:51, 27 June 2008 (CDT)
I tried that. You have to have it equipped. --Bale 02:59, 27 June 2008 (CDT)

I got 'Banjo', so I equipped a disco banjo, got the adventure again, and... got the same text again. So I tried a stone banjo. Same deal. Apparently it doesn't matter if you've got the instrument or not.--Ernier 02:33, 19 June 2008 (CDT)

I tried using makeshift castinets (the Disco Bandit instrument) as a Sauceror. It gave me the same message as if I didn't have an instrument equipped.--Ithanox 04:54, 13 August 2008 (CDT)

Busk count

Busk with 1 performer gives X nickels

Busk with 2 performers gives 7 ? nickels

Busk with 3 performers gives X nickels

Busk with 4 performers gives X nickels

Busk with 5 performers gives X nickels

Busk with 6 performers gives X nickels

stage with an instrument

I went in the back door as a saucy with a marinara jug and got the following adventure:

Here You Are, Up On Stage You head in the back of the tent and take the stage with butterflies in your stomach, each of which hopes you'll break a leg.

Two options are: Keep Performing Leave the Stage

When you get on stage, /hobopolis issues the following notice: <character name> has taken the stage in Town Square.

I stayed on stage while my clan started a new dungeon, when clicking keep performing, I got this: You just had the strangest dream -- you were performing on stage in front of a crowd of hobos. ird. Maestro13 09:19, 20 June 2008 (CDT)

Theory

So by deduction... A player gets an instrument and gets on stage to attracts hobos. Other players enter the tent and either pass around the hat to collect coins, or start a mosh to kill hobos in mass. Dunno how many people can join the tent to make it more effective or not... maybe 1 of each class on instruments? --Darkwolf 01:42, 21 June 2008 (CDT)

Assuming that busk gives X nickels, is it reasonable to assume that mosh kills Y hobos where X = Y * C. It is likely that C = 1

This last would be consistent with TPTB saying (on a recent radio show, I think) that you need at least 7 people participating in order to produce all the effects possible in Hobopolis. (That's not the greatest phrasing, but hopefully you get my drift.)--Nahtmmm 19:04, 29 June 2008 (CDT)

Occurrence

  • the Hobopolis Town Square page said (before i changed it) that this only occurs when the picture is on 125, half-way between 12 and 13. i've just got it shortly after reaching 19, and although i didn't look at the town square picture number this disproves this theorem. it would also seem to disprove the half-way bit, too, since i'm no more than thirty adventures from 19. --Evilkolbot 07:03, 1 July 2008 (CDT)
    • I've gotten it almost immediately after reaching image 125, which is when the town square image actually changes to show an open tent rather than a closed one. Maybe bad RNG, or dependant on number of participants? --Quietust (t|c) 08:16, 1 July 2008 (CDT)
      • was image 125 between 12 and 13, though? i got this four or so times today on images 18 and 19. having neither an instrument nor mates, i declined to enter. i'll pay more attention tomorrow. --Evilkolbot 11:38, 1 July 2008 (CDT)
  • The text you edited out said that the adventure was "unlocked" at image125, which is to say that it can be first encountered at that image, not that it only occurred at image125. The fact that you encountered the adventure after it was unlocked is no proof at all that it wasn't unlocked already. Bakapyrite 13:02, 1 July 2008 (CDT)
    • ok, so i can't read. forgive me. --Evilkolbot 13:13, 1 July 2008 (CDT)
      • Well, to be fair, if it was unclear to you (and by extention the general readership of the wiki), it's entirely possible that it could be written in a more clear manner. Maybe change "unlocked" to "first becomes available"? Bakapyrite 13:23, 1 July 2008 (CDT)
  • Our clan's theory, which has not been contradicted so far, is that the tent unlocks every time the Town Square image advances (after 12.5), and locks up again once someone has busked or moshed. So, you can get up to 12 tents per Hobopolis instance. --Jef 11:07, 17 July 2008 (CDT)
  • A clannie mentioned this, but I didn't see it anywhere skimming through this page.. They said that if someone takes the stage, it reduces the chance of this adventure appearing for everyone else. Any truth to this, or just bitter RNG luck? Chompie 20:30, 22 February 2009 (UTC)
