Event Ordering

Do people mind if I reverse the order that the events are listed in? As in, instead of the most recent event (in this case, 2017) being at the top of the list, having the first event (2005) at the top of the list, as is done on every other such page I can think of (Crimbo, Halloween, SSPD), and to have it in the same order as the list of when they occurred.

The odd ordering threw me when I was flicking through now, and it seems like it'd be nice to have the Wiki be consistent on this sort of thing. --Fyll (talk) 10:38, 1 April 2017 (UTC)

April Fool's 2014

Does anyone know if you miss out anything besides a headache if you turn off Australian Mode?--Hastifer (talk) 12:27, 1 April 2014 (UTC)

April Fool's 2013

My first fight of the day was a four-shadowed mime. I ascended, but didn't encounter another. --Yunatwilight (talk) 09:14, 1 April 2013 (UTC)

  • Jick reported in the April Fools' Day thread on the forum for this year that the mimes were an error on his part. So they only showed up for the first hour or so of the day, and weren't supposed to happen at all.

April Fool's 2012

A mime attacked me in the treasury, and there's a message about Adventure.php being rewritten, so looks like there's some mime-related amusements on the way. EnixBask 06:47, 1 April 2012 (CEST)

April Fool's 2010

My name just changed colors in the chat box, so I think we can expect more of the color-changing chat phenomena. Moynusaxon 04:18, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

My familiar does weird stuff:

Trorg changes into a Floating Eye. As you start to attack, Trorg gazes into your eyes, paralyzing you. Trorg gazes into your opponent's eyes, paralyzing him

All in the same battle, it seems like a very high chance of paralyzing either me or my opponent, it only didn't once out of what felt like 10 or so turns, and some people say that theirs are laying eggs. --Shima 04:21, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

"Familiar" Messages

seems to be interested in treating your

<familiar> isn't a real doctor, but he manages to patch you up a

Egg Benedict <familiar> wobbles back and forth a little.
(after combat) <familiar> stabs you in the back. You lose X hit
points (half your max hp, I got stabbed in the back a second
time, and it beat me up).
Note: The start-of-combat message says Vampire Bat, but the other messages say Vampire *Bird*.

Well, that oughta be enough for my share of the spading, your turn! --Jimfromtx 05:00, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

Tequila (Baby Sandworm) changes into a Snowhitman. Tequila pops a silenced cap in your opponent, dealing 146 damage.

Tequila changes into a Vampire Bat. (jubjubbird.gif) The Vampire Bird casts your opponent into the lake of burning fire. Your opponent is burning to the crisp, taking 125 (hot)The Vampire Bird sucks the blood out of you, killing you. Well, not killing you, just hurting you. You lose 15 hit points. The Vampire Bird gains 15 experience damage. --Andy00 04:29, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

What I've observed so far:

  • Worm Doctor: Heals the monster, and sometimes you.
  • Plastic Grocery Bag: Does nothing.
  • Bank Piggy: Takes 100 meat from you sometimes, get it back with bigger returns at the end of the battle. Also a Worm Doctor for some reason.
  • Floating Eye: Paralyzes you if you attack, Paralyzes opponent if you use a skill
  • Oyster Bunny: Gives you an Oyster Egg at the end of combat
  • Money-Making Goblin: Takes meat drops, either wins back double or loses everything
  • Egg Benedict: Hurts you at the end of the combat
  • Vampire Bat: Not exactly sure yet. When I casted Stream of Sauce, it did Hot damage. Also sucks some blood at the end of combat and gains Experience.

--JohnAnon 04:31, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

The Floating Eye occasionally allows you to attack. I've tested this with Lunging Thrust-Smack and it paralyzes me for the first seven or eight rounds, then allows me to use the skill. EDIT: Just got an effect (B-b-brr!) from the Snowhitman, no description as of yet. I'm keeping it till after rollover to find out what it does. EDIT EDIT: Black Cat transforms, but I don't think this would affect a 100% run. --TheNachomancer 04:33, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

Bank Piggy took meat from me and also hurt me --Shima 04:58, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

  • Nevermind, it was a hobo attack message.

All these April Fool's familiars seems comprehensive. Should it get its own page?--JohnAnon 04:42, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

Just a note, my leprechaun still increases meat drops even if it's transformed. --Kevinpaul 2007 04:53, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

  • Odd, because my Hobo Monkey was not increasing meat drops when he transformed.--Mr. Green 04:55, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

It seems that you get the changed familiars even if you are adventuring without an active familiar.--R00k 05:03, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

Bank Pig took 300 meat from me, and gave back 315, .05% --Shima 05:08, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

Egg Benedict so far has dealt 50% of my maxHP each time it stabbed me. Watching for further details. --Pastangum 05:13, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

Snowhitman: <familiar> pistolwhips you, seriously bruising your jaw. Man. You can't trust anybody in this town.

Jawbruise.gifYou acquire an effect: Bruised Jaw
(duration: 5 Adventures)
--Munkee79 05:24, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

Ignore what I wrote here, all wrong -_- --Eror11 12:11, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

Mad love for the Plastic Grocery Bag comment I just got: "<familiar> blows around in the breeze. It's the most beautiful thing you've ever seen." Nobody else'd mentioned it, so I thought I'd throw that out there. --Xirei 12:56, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

Since no one else seems to have mentioned it I might as well: The top frame moves slightly to the right all the time (unless you reload it which leads to it getting back to start position) and the character pane moves slightly downwards, but not as much. Winterbay 15:26, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

Didn't seem to be here yet: (I ran away since my familiar became an Egg Benedict)

You run away, like a sissy little coward. (familiar name) reverts to an amorphous blob. --RikAstley 18:43, 1 April 2010 (UTC) --Meximusician 03:05, 2 April 2010 (UTC) Plastic Grocery Bags

"<Rolandoflo> blows around in the breeze. It's the most beautiful thing you've ever seen."

is a reference to a scene from "Not Another Teen Movie" where the protagonist's girlfriend breaks up with for what, as she describes it, is "the most beautiful thing I've ever seen": a guy with a videocamera and a plastic bag labeled "the most beautiful thing I've ever seen".

April Fool's 2009

Also, I tried last night after rollover, and I could use as many fireworks as I wanted. So this should be noted as a mistake, seeing how it is fixed now. I can provide screenshots =)--Drummerking 23:13, 1 April 2009 (UTC)

  • Oh joy, oh rapture, it appears as though all events besides Crimbo flagged at the same time. I'm gonna hit the Arr-whatever it's called since I can eat tons of food and really good consumables drop randomly, allowing me to plant tons of trees.--Ephinia 04:09, 1 April 2009 (UTC)

While I did NOT receive any extra adventures from Labor Day, most of the other holidays appear to work as usual. For now. --Flandamnat 04:18, 1 April 2009 (UTC)

NOTE concerning labor day- from the labor day page: "The 10 extra adventures are granted at the end of rollover only." No wonder you haven't got the extra adventures yet! --Ninj 23:45, 1 April 2009 (UTC)

  • end of rollover, ie you get the adventures the first time you log in that day, Labór Day. --Evilkolbot 18:50, 3 April 2009 (UTC)
  • Very specifically:
Today is the Festival of Jarlsberg!
    Today is Valentine's Day!
Today is St. Sneaky Pete's Day!
    It's Oyster Egg Day!
Today is El Dia de Los Muertos Borrachos!
    Today is Generic Summer Holiday!
    Today is Dependence Day!
    Today is Arrrbor Day!
    Today is Labór Day!
    Today is Halloween!
Today is the Feast of Boris!
    Today is Yuletide!
    Today is Friday the 13th!

There is some odd interaction as well--adventuring at the bonfire without a marshmallow, I chanced upon a Feast of Boris encounter which must have overriden the usual adventure result. --Itsatrap 04:30, 1 April 2009 (UTC)

  • Tried adventuring at the bonfire without marshmellow about 60 times (at least 55), no FoB or Spirits. --Ekimekim 07:45, 1 April 2009 (UTC)
I too adventured at the bonfire without a marshmallow my first turn and got a FoB monster. I honestly doubt today's Mr. A special will be available every April first though... if it is, that's kind of lame (unless they keep adding new ones) --Lordebon 11:16, 1 April 2009 (UTC)
  • Anyone know the St. Sneaky Pete's Day cake drop? Old or new? --JRSiebz (|§|) 04:36, 1 April 2009 (UTC)
  • It seems to be the chocolate cupcake still.

This is awesome--Darkmagicpi 04:38, 1 April 2009 (UTC)

LATE HOLIDAY WIERDNESS Multi-colored text began appearing in chat, about an hour before rollover. Pattern was seen as a single small burst of rainbow words, followed by several words and entire sentances in rainbow colors, occasionally even flashing. The color density has increased, approaching rollover. Is This A New Plague?!? --Terry 03:23, 2 April 2009 (UTC)

  • Confirmed. Chat achieved total colorful freakiness right at the 1-minute to rollover mark. This is either the Powers screwing around, or the start of something epic... or both. --Terry 03:32, 2 April 2009 (UTC)

Who keeps removing Fourth of July from the list of holidays that didn't occur? It didn't occur and so it should be listed. Felinoel 13:20, 2 April 2009 (UTC)

  • because the fourth of july is not a holiday as such, in kol it's dependence day which did happen. that you can get a trophy on the fourth of july is not a holiday, and that it didn't happen is not remarkable. oh, and, by the way, repeated reverting gets one banned. just a heads up. --Evilkolbot 17:35, 2 April 2009 (UTC)
    • It is a holiday, it is a specific day in which a specific event happens, just because KoL has its own version of it does not make the celebration of the American version in the KoL game nonexistant. Oh, and, by the way, I did no repeated reverting, I was editing my entry to add the link when it made me click twice to submit it, looking at the history of the page I am guessing it was because someone changed it while I was adding the link. Felinoel 16:31, 3 April 2009 (UTC)
      1. someone changed it while I was adding the link? then you'd have got a clashing edits page, so, i don't believe you.
      2. I did no repeated reverting? someone reverted it, then you changed it back. that's not the way to do it. if someone reverts you, bitch about it on the talk page. or complain to a mod, or even go all the way to the top and bother Jinya, she's a very cool woman. on second thoughts it better be important if you do bother her because she is, as i said very cool.
      3. you're still wrong (see below) --Evilkolbot 18:50, 3 April 2009 (UTC)
      • KoL has 12 main holidays, 1 that comes in December, and another 4 that get triggered on special dates. 4th of July is not one of those 17. A holiday is denoted on the map screen. 4th of July is not an in-game holiday, it only gets triggered because of Dependence Day. Festive Dismemberment isn't a holiday either.--Toffile 16:41, 3 April 2009 (UTC)

April Fool's 2008

  • well... --jeremypv 15:42, 31 March 2008 (CDT)
  • The Kingdom of Salad is in Nightly Maintenance? --Guzkal
  • Most obvious change was the Kingdom of Salad. Other than that, all item icons were changed to a salad icon, as well as all monster pictures. Random nouns, adjectives and prepositions in item and monster descriptions were replaced with the word salad. Everyone turned into a salad: Their icon pictures turned to a salad, and when you fumbled, your body part would be a a part of a salad, like Ranch Dressing, garlic crouton, or fresh ground pepper --tanjy3
  • I think we should list the salad parts: —Yendor 00:03, 1 April 2008 (CDT)
  • grated cheese
  • fresh ground pepper
  • Romaine lettuce
  • sliced tomato
  • Ranch dressing
  • raspberry vinaigrette
  • garlic crouton
  • Not all monsters were saladized. The NS's second form was not. --Jonzay 03:24, 1 April 2008 (CDT)
  • I'm seeing an array of meats or cheeses as player pics as well.--Kidmissile 12:04, 1 April 2008 (CDT)
  • I think something like this happened in Runescape (gimme a break, I was young and confused), where someone messed up the server such that everyone would randomly, instead of their intended text, say "cabbage!". It wasn't intended, though, so it might be a coincidence. Kalir 12:19, 1 April 2008 (CDT)
  • I'm kicking myself for this, but I summoned my pie demon before I thought to try "Bako", "Salad" or "salad". Anyone wanna try those and let me know if my intuition was on? --Glikker 12:27, 1 April 2008 (CDT)
  • Nothing. Tried, "Bako", "Salad" and "salad" already, all come back with the failed summoning messages. Good thinking though.--Denarius 13:28, 1 April 2008 (CDT)
  • Did anyone visit the Artist to see if he gave you a new tattoo for having the salad avatar. Unfortunately I am HCO and am out of aadventures and didnt find all 3 pieces during the quests. :(--Warjunkie 20:08, 1 April 2008 (CDT)
  • Anyone have the URL or images of the changed player pictures? --JRSiebz (|§|) 20:45, 2 April 2008 (CDT)

April Fool's 2007

  • The Travelling Trade offering O.A.F.
  • April item of the month
  • new NS13 content revealed Link
  • mall broken (?)
  • yellow snowcones summoned from the snowcone skill
  • regular snowcones from the hilarious objects one

--NewZorkBat 00:39, 1 April 2007 (CDT)

  • I'd like a pizza with one of everything too... has the Pickle Factory appeared in some way? Not even just the picture? --Thoby123 03:06, 1 April 2007 (CDT)
  • mall broken? I don't think so.. --PokeYourHeadOff 19:20, 1 April 2007 (CDT)
  • It may just be my lack of sleep, but I seem to recall (at least shortly after rollover) that messages in chat were randomly appended with italicized text such as "Seriously." or "Trust me.". And the Penguin Goodfella seems too good to be considered April Fools Content. Unless it is indeed a one day only item it should probably be removed. --TheDotGamer 22:52, 1 April 2007 (CDT)
    • The "trust me" ect. are from liar's pants. The Penguin Goodfella is also definetly not one-day-only. It should be removed.--Munkel 23:10, 1 April 2007 (CDT)
      • That'll teach me to play the game while tired. I thought I'd seen that somewhere before. --TheDotGamer 23:42, 1 April 2007 (CDT)

April Fool's 2006

  • I confirm the ultra rare fake forgetting thing. Pissed me off so much. Musteval 09:52, 1 April 2006 (CST)
  • If you gus are interested, I copied the sorce code of the main page on April 1 (*2006*) and put it onto a geocities, so that you can see what it looked like. It's located here. I just think that was too good for people who didnt make it on April 1 to miss. -Fwahobadagadz 16:51, 3 April 2006 (CDT)
    • My God. When I just opened the page, I thought those ads were real. --NewZorkBat 15:43, 12 April 2006 (CDT)
  • "When you did manage to get to the correct login page, it would connect you to a random server, by changing something on the login page, no matter which server you were ment to be on."
What exactly is this supposed to mean? --Quietust 13:39, 21 April 2006 (CDT)
  • The AFD 2006 main page is still up at: (This seems to be another domain owned by Jick.) --Poochy 00:18, 4 May 2006 (CDT)

April Fool's 2005

  • I don't have names of the files but I think I have at least one screenshort left over of a during combat Walmart add that I found in the forums awhile back. Should I upload it?--SomeStranger 14:57, 1 April 2006 (CST)
  • Does anyone know why the images for 2005 (first set) do not show up? I've tried previewing a few different changes but they still won't show, while everything else does.--Vingelot 00:58, 2 April 2007 (CDT)
