Setting records

  • My experiments from the last three days suggest doing laps may be influenced by one's buffed Moxie. On the other hand, a clannie has observed a possible correlation between the number of submarine dives and equipment/effects assisting either underwater adventuring in general or specifically breathing underwater. --Pineapple of Despair 16:11, 3 May 2012 (CEST)
  • If buffed moxie is a factor, it's probably not the only one. In my clan, the record for most laps is held by a character perpetually in-ronin (hasn't been above level 13 since the pool was released) rather than by the level 90 individual with over 5000 moxie. --Nevalkarion 07:09, 5 May 2012 (CEST)
  • Has anyone considered the possibility of Fullness / Drunkenness affecting the number of laps / sprints? I have tried sprinting for 3 consecutive days it's pretty stable - 123,124,125. My clanmates has obtained as low as 66, and as high as 237. --Archmage Warlic 16:18, 5 May 2012 (CEST)
    • As magical as it may seem, I got 126 today. My submarine sprints is increasing by 1 lap per day. Consistent, eh? --Archmage Warlic 10:05, 6 May 2012 (CEST)
  • Tried doing sprints today with a diving helmet, scuba gear, diving muff, and swim fins, and actually got a NEGATIVE number. Make of that what you will. --Galapagos James 06:21, 6 May 2012 (CEST)
    • That you managed to get into the negative numbers leads me to speculate that certain items have a value that's assigned to it, which is added or subtracted from your total outcome. Both actions ask for different bonuses, maybe cancelling each other out. Better diver and some means of air-supply seem to make you better at Submarine Sprints, like suggested above by Pineapple of Despair. Seems you found out that stuff that would help you diving will hinder you while trying to swim a far distance, maybe even vice versa. The only definitive thing I found out so far is, that wearing your birthday suit doesn't seem to help you swimming more laps either. I'm sure there are items in the game that enhance your aerodynamic probabilities (or something else that seems logical, once you see it) to aid you while swimming long distance, like the Lucky rabbit's foot for pool. Muscle, the snorkel, water-polo equipment and a fish-familiar seem worth a try to me, but on the other hand: I'm a geek - what do I know about swimming... --Yatsufusa 07:29, 6 May 2012 (CEST)

  • You manage to swim -1,771 before your fingers get all pruny. (lapdog) Stats buf/norm musc 28831/887 myst 23900/665 mox 22304 / 500 Hundreds of buffs, potentially noteworthy buffs: Silent running (120), Lapdog (128), Crocodile tear (207), Fishy fortification (199), Swimming with Sharks (205), Mer-Kinny Flavor (200), Salty Dogs (189), Boner Batallion (1944) That last one is probably unrelated. 147 lb Casagnova Gnome. My equipment does not seem nautical / seaworthy. My record is 1,599 sprints with approximately the same buffing. --Dreamthief 05:49, 8 May 2012 (CEST)
  • My multi has been negative since day one, I've tried going at the begining of the day and at the end (varying fullness/drunk, turns remaining, etc.) and fishy gear/buffs or non fishy goodness appears to have NO effect. The clannie who is the current record holder keeps getting higher and higher records, but when I asked him, he said he's not doing anything speical and while he tends to go at the end of the night he has had a low turn count day set a record and a high turn count day and set a record. He and my multi are both lvl 48. HOWEVER, He is an AT (high moxie : otehr stats ratio), and mine is a sauceror (moxie is the lowest as compared to other stats.)--Watermoon 04:45, 17 May 2012 (CEST)
    • For clarification: Are you referring to Swim Laps or Do Submarine Sprints? --Yatsufusa 05:39, 17 May 2012 (CEST)
      • swim laps Watermoon 04:25, 19 August 2012 (CEST)
  • I got 282 submarine sprints with no buffs while wearing my +item gear (BHH outfit, Grateful Undead T-shirt, 3 war medals). 28 lb Hounddog equipped with hookah as active familiar. L14 AT: 136(115) musc, 134(113) myst, 196(175) mox. --Bsmith 18:48, 18 May 2012 (CEST)
  • I just managed to swim 312 laps with early day two equipment and pretty much no buffs at all. While I didn't take notes of my performance before I'm pretty sure that was my best result so far. But today I hadn't anything equipped in my main- or off-hand. Maybe that improved my laps. --Yatsufusa 22:58, 19 May 2012 (CEST)
    • I just did Swim Laps with nothing but the stylish swimsuit on (everything else unequipped), and I achieved 104 laps. I'm wondering if this might have a calculation in it like the "Demon Star" Game Grid arcade game (where the power of your weapon affects the damage to the asteroids). Maybe? --PatcheyePete 22:08, 23 May 2012 (CEST)
      • In that case I should add I had +Weapon Damage Effects from Kung Fu Hustler and Master of the Surprising Fist active at that time. --Yatsufusa 03:43, 24 May 2012 (CEST)
      • I'm thinking not necessarily weapon power/damage, but maybe any clothing...maybe? Had several basic buffs on yesterday (shells, AT buffs, etc), so I knocked them all off and swam again in just my stylish swimsuit - got 105 laps today. Interesting. --PatcheyePete 17:43, 24 May 2012 (CEST)
      • Went swimming again in just my skivvies, got 105 today. --PatcheyePete 17:06, 25 May 2012 (CEST)
  • I had forgotten to swim at the beginning of the day when I did swim I had 16 adventures left I only got 13 laps from my swimming, my equipment is the war hippy uniform, juju mask, astral shirt, pirate fledges and trusty (since I am in a boris run). When I went and did laps at the beginning of the day today using the same equipment, increased muscle by 2, myst and moxie by 1 and 62 adventures I got 103 laps. --Chunky_boo 08:04, 20 May 2012 (CEST)

I haven't actually bothered to spade this myself but just thought - what about the Water Wings effect? Edir 21:50, 31 May 2012 (CEST)

  • One of my characters had been consistently getting ~315 laps while in Ronin with a wide variety of equipment. When he last ascended, he softcore permed Deep Saucery and has gotten ~345 laps every day in the current run. It may be that having undersea skills permed adds to lap count. I will report back as that character perms more undersea skills. --Nevalkarion 20:44, 4 June 2012 (CEST)
  • Umm, I somehow managed to swim -14 laps! I had my usual gear and buffs on, plus Temporary Blindness. --Aib 09:01, 6 June 2012 (CEST)
  • No permed underwater skills, first day of an ascension, over 200 laps. Either this is glitchy or it's REALLY weird. The next day it plummeted back to the teens. --Yunatwilight 18:28, 9 June 2012 (CEST)
  • +ML significantly improves lap swimming. Drunkenness/fullness bring it down, but slimy bile bladder/sweetbreads offset that by quite a lot, so I see records in the high 400's when preparing for Slime Tube. LizardKing 11:19, 15 August 2012 (CEST)
    • With around +162 ML I managed to swim -9 laps. I was at 120-ish remaining adventures, 19 (of 20) drunkenness, 15 fullness and 15 spleen - so drunkenness/fullness seems to make a huge difference. --Yatsufusa 03:25, 18 August 2012 (CEST)
  • I got 1175 sprints with no extra ML, but over 1K +items, maxed out full/drunk, no slime tube anything (I was going after the snakes in the grassfires at the time) Since then I have noticed it to be directly correlated to my +item, I don't usally do the sprints, but it's been within 40 of my +item the 4 times since then that I've checked and added it up at the moment. Watermoon 04:25, 19 August 2012 (CEST)
  • Another entry point: ronin Zombie slayer, zero drunk, no active buffs, one active negative status effect: Cunctatitis, level 10, Mus 164 (89), Mys 94 (64), Mox 116 (71), HP 262/281. Crown of thrones with NPZR, scout backpack, both bear arms, travoltan trousers, v mask, Mr A, Mr A Jr, disembodied hand with time sword. Somewhere around -1173 laps. --Club (#66669) (Talk) 20:59, 18 September 2012 (CEST)
  • about 1500 laps by putting my initiative around 400% Bonerici 05:34, 6 November 2012 (CET)
