Talk:A Temporal Rift

There must be a minimum level for the plains rift too, because I couldn't see it when I ascended, but now I can at level 4.--Hamelin 17:01, 16 December 2005 (Central Standard Time)

I agree. I definitely could not see it until I turned level 4 just now. I'm a once ascended Pastamancer, if it matters. Is that a consensus that it appears between levels 4 and 6? --Kantania 16:03, 18 January 2006 (Central Standard Time)

I see it too; I've just hit level 4. Perhaps the main article should mention the rifts will be seen _again_ once you hit level 4. What if you've already adventured in the rifts, and are returning, post ascension? Can you access them again?--Beardedrobot 09:03, 31 January 2006 (Central Standard Time)

I think it's quite possible that this is also a Star Trek reference, what with the amount of times Picard et al manage to tear rifts in the Space-Time Continuum.

I have not ascended, I saw this with a level 4 and 5 Pastamancer. I have not seen it, as far as I can recall, with my currently level 4 seal clubber. Now I cannot see it with either character. Note that I cannot remember an instance where it was visible to the Pastamancer but not to the Seal Clubber. So... is it gone?--Trendytotebag 00:56, 10 August 2006 (CDT)

  • Read the "Notes" section. --JRSiebz (|§|) 01:03, 10 August 2006 (CDT)

Last rift is closing?

Rumors have it that the last open rift (in The Nearby Plains) is not visible to some non-ascended adventurers, even if they are of the correct level. Please post sightings/info here. --Jonrock 19:48, 14 August 2006 (CDT)

This was the contents of the NeedsConfirm box that Tearra posted across several pages: "Several level 4 and 5 characters have reported being unable to reach this area (or see the temporal rift) as of Tuesday, Sept. 8 2006. One person with a muscle zodiac sign (mongoose) has reported getting here. Is this an ascended-only area now? Or is this a muscle-zodiac area now?"

  • I am am a level 5 Seal Clubber under the Mongoose sign and I can access the Rift.--Gleezus 08:54, 15 August 2006 (CDT)

I've seen it on my recent runs. BTW, there's no "Tuesday, Sept. 8 2006", but Aug 8th was a Tuesday. It seems Tearra has put this on many pages. --Crowther 17:52, 14 August 2006 (CDT)

I'm exactly a level 4 Seal Clubber (with 13 base Muscle and 0 substat) and the rift is not visible. --Jonrock 19:57, 14 August 2006 (CDT)

A Gourd potion took me to from 13/0 muscle to 14/7. Now I can see Fernswarthy's Tower, but still no Rift. --Jonrock 20:35, 14 August 2006 (CDT)

Jick confirmed it last night (14 August 2006) that the Rift was changed to ascended players only. Sorry about putting the wrong date on the pages. My brain must have slipped. I'll go ahead and update them all now. I will go ahead and leave the 'needs confirmation' message up for a few more days at least, to make sure I haven't made a mistake. --Tearra 07:44, 15 August 2006 (CDT)

Last Rift closing again?

As a level 4 Disco Bandit (with a couple of ascensions) the rift unexpectedly isn't there. The requirements for seeing it might have changed, or it might be gone ... we did just have a Tuesday. Oddly enough, I could've sworn I saw it just at the start of this gameday, around 1am US/Eastern, but before the new guild chars showed up. --Harry Crimboween 07:44, 24 January 2007 (CST)

I'm confirming Harry's observation, adding that I tried gaining full guild memership and double-talking to both new characters and it still didn't pop up. --Ithanox 18:29, 24 January 2007 (EST)

It appeared for me (below the Cemetery, instead of next to the Knob) after I'd handed over Fernswarthy's key. --Hellion 17:51, 24 January 2007 (CST)

  • Actually, it appears after finding the key. —Yendor 18:40, 24 January 2007 (CST)

Time to update page?

Since things seem to have settled down with this particular game feature, perhaps it is time to update this page. As it stands, it's an interesting history lesson, but it doesn't really present the current state of things to a player looking for information. The needed information is in one line in the main body of the page (the pointer to the distant past page) and the last two points in the notes section. Comments? --Pheloniusfriar 15:00, 28 March 2010 (UTC)

I agree. I also wonder if there shouldn't be perhaps a special icon or some such on all pages that reference expired game info. --Redi 23:26, 15 April 2010 (UTC)

An icon isn't a bad idea. Perhaps a tag/flag as well. That said, I saw a rift today in the Nearby Plains, that took someone to "The Nearby Plains in the Distant Past" (plains2.php) which contained {Cobb's Lump, Fernswarthy's Hut, Susie's Cupcake Stand, Degrassi Book Depository, Clown Rock, The Cemetary, [A Temporal Rift], A Battlefield(1), The Bat Divot, The Perfectly Ordinary Pickle Factory} where the battlefield is "The Cola Wars Battlefield" and was the only tile that triggered an adventure, where the rest where basically just descriptives. --Cspark 18:55, 6 March 2011 (UTC) Edit: The temporal rift was closed after just a few adventures. --Cspark 18:58, 6 March 2011 (UTC)
