Talk:A Fax Machine

So...this allows you to transfer a monster (or butt) you've photocopied to someone else? I find myself hoping there's more to this. --Sparksol (t|c) 12:59, 16 December 2010 (UTC)

  • MORE to this? It's a free camera even in hardcore! This is stupidly awesome. Just think of the things you could stick in there and use to speed up a run. --Flargen 13:05, 16 December 2010 (UTC)
    • Is it? It could be restricted - like the plastic ball pit... --Grimdel 21:43, 16 December 2010 (UTC)
  • according to the forums it sounds way overpowered: you put in a copied monster, your clanmates can print off as many of them as they like. you can only fight one per day, but the copies you get out of the fax can be fed back into it. Think: non-ascending multi gives you a copy of whatever monster you want whenever you want. I'm thining there's some nerf involved either coming ahead or that we don't forsee yet. --SilentKnight 13:07, 16 December 2010 (UTC)
    • Actually what you'd do is create a clan for every monster you'd ever want a copy of, and just leave the fax machine forever at that and give white lists to people you trust not to screw with it; though if it is screwed with a designated character in the clan can always be holding a copy to stick in, then get a fresh copy out right afterwards. Swapping monsters either requires a photocopier (limited supply) or a copy from another clan's machine. --Flargen 13:10, 16 December 2010 (UTC)
      • So photocopied monsters are mutually exclusive? can't get a fax of a blooper if you photocopied your butt? Can't a clan have 10 multis each hold on to a different copy? Why would different clans be relevant? --SilentKnight 13:14, 16 December 2010 (UTC)
        • Because each clan can only hold onto one monster at a time in their fax. Argus 21:27, 16 December 2010 (UTC)
        • While you could set up a network of automated copying multis to switch the monster in a single fax as desired, this may become a logistical nightmare for all but the smallest of clans, as people will constantly be desiring different monsters all the time. With individual clans for each monster you just have to monitor the machine for the correct copy (I'm told a clan log entry is forthcoming), and fix and boot as appropriate. It also starts to run into potential issues with multi-abuse. Whoever runs the bot system may have to intentionally avoid using any relevant fax machines with any other characters he may have. But I'm not sure what #6's opinion might be on that. --Flargen 21:37, 16 December 2010 (UTC)
  • The thing that interests me most is faxing a butt. Whose butt will you fight? Would it be your own, or would it be the butt that was on the paper? --Therealtahu 22:10, 16 December 2010 (UTC)
    • Well, that depends. Do you have a tattoo of a butt, with a little tattoo of a butt on it, on your butt? --Snugglypoo 03:41, 18 December 2010 (UTC)
    • I guess this answers my question.--Therealtahu 08:06, 18 December 2010 (UTC)

Hey. I put in Mr. Mination when he was still copyable, but now when I try to pull him out, it says "The stupid broken fax machine just spits out another blank sheet of paper." What gives?--Eniteris 19:55, 25 December 2010 (UTC)

This page is really vague about what a fax machine is. I'll go ask someone what it does, but in the meantime.. can someone add to the page about WTF this means? --LucySpace (Talk|Cntrbs) 17:25, 10 April 2011 (UTC)

It says exactly what it is under "How it Works" -- a player copies a monster using a photocopier (or from another fax machine) then loads it into the machine. That allows anyone using the machine to get a photocopy of that monster back out. The page is the same format as the other VIP stuff... it's just a bit more complex in terms of its mechanics which is why it has the "How it Works" section. --Lordebon 17:44, 10 April 2011 (UTC)
Huh. Now looking back at that, I don't know what happened. I must have had a brain block about that type of text formatting. I guess my brain thought it was part of a type of section I always skip, like "references", and then my brain elected not to read it. Thanks. Sorry about that. --LucySpace (Talk|Cntrbs) 19:18, 10 April 2011 (UTC)

I added a note about being able to fight a faxed monster while overdrunk. I apologize if this did not belong here, as I noticed afterward that this info is on the photocopied monster page. --Aaronoz 22:47, 23 February 2012 (CET)
