You sneer and frown and run to and fro on Fudge Mountain, looking for something to pick a fight with. You round a corner and see just the thing -- a big ol' wasp's nest, just sitting there waiting to be kicked.
You give it what it deserves, and it gives you what you deserve -- the wrath of a whole swarm of fudgewasps.
Hit Message(s):
A wasp complains about being stood up at the yacht club by its so-called friends Biff and Muffy, and then stings you. Eek! Ugh! Ow! Argh! Eek!
A wasp lands on your <thigh>. You try to swat it and end up smacking yourself in the face. Eek! Ugh! Oof! Eek! Ouch!
A wasp stings you in the <face>. Stupid leftover nazi bees. Oof! Argh! Argh! Ouch! Argh!
Did you know a wasp has a stinger that vibrates like a tattoo needle, allowing it to sting you multiple times in less than a second? Yes, yes you do. Ow! Eek! Ow! Ouch! Ow!
A couple of wasps sting you in a couple of places you'd rather not be stung. I mean, it's not like there are places you'd prefer to be stung by a wasp, but especially not these places. Ugh! Oof! Oof! Ooh! Argh!
A wasp excuses itself to attend a cotillion with its friends Percival and Chip.
You ask a nearby wasp if it's aerodynamically possible for it to fly. It drops to the ground, confused.
The wasp that was about to sting you decides to try on a wig instead.
A wasp tries to sting you, but it can't quite deliver a ssssstinger.
The swarm of wasps are suddenly seized with an existential crisis. "Why do we exist?" they buzz. "We don't even make honey! We suck!" (FUMBLE!)
![]() | You acquire 18-20 fudgecules (100% chance)* |
Occurs at Fudge Mountain. Fudgecule drops can be increased by the following effects:
- These effects don't seem to work anymore (1/16/17)
Notes
- While normally you can only fight 3 of these a day (whether you win, get Beaten Up, or Run Away), you can fight more if you copy the swarm or fire a badly romantic arrow at them. This will let you fight up to an additional 10 a day.
- This monster counts as a group (of size 20). It takes manifold damage from area-of-effect skills such as Wave of Sauce.
References
- The messages listed first under "hit" and "miss" respectively refers to stereotypes about WASPs, white Anglo-Saxon Protestants.
- The former also references Aerosmiths' song "Eat The Rich"
- The "leftover Nazi bees" is a reference to the Marvel supervillain, Swarm, a leftover Nazi who became a swarm of bees.
- "A Wasp in a Wig", apart from being a Kingdom of Loathing monster, is a lost chapter from Lewis Carroll's Through the Looking Glass. John Tenniel was the illustrator for the Alice books, and it was at his suggestion that the chapter was removed, and was quoted as saying "A wasp in a wig is altogether beyond the appliances of art".
- It is more often bumblebees than wasps that are said to be aerodynamically incapable of flight. Perhaps that's why the wasp is confused?
- The hit message with "Biff and Muffy" is a possible reference to a snobbish wasp couple with the names Chip and Muffy in Antz.
