As you cautiously make your way down the dimly-lit castle hallways, you gradually become aware of a quiet scratching noise. A scratching, scrabbling, scraping sort of noise.

Eventually it occurs to you to look up. The skeleton directly above you, clinging to the ceiling, rotates its head 180 degrees with a creeeeak to stare down at you, then lets go.

  • This monster cannot be copied.
  • The Freddy Kruegerand and Dreadsylvanian Almanac page drops are not affected by item drop modifiers. They are similar to the beer lens drop and drops from crates. In particular, they can still drop after being stomped.
  • This monster has elemental resistant which increases with the difficulty of the zone.

    • A black crow flutters down to a tree branch near you and meows loudly.

    • A black cat looks up at you and says, "what are you staring at, jagoff?" It hisses and crosses your path as it leaves.

A skeleton shuffles toward you, arms outstretched, teeth chattering loudly. It hisses at you, and unexpectedly, the hiss almost sounds like a word: "Teeth." It stumbles forward, still chattering, still hissing. "Teeth. Teeth. Teeth." As it gets closer, you can see that the constantly-chattering teeth are all different colors and sizes. It reaches for your mouth.

Further up the castle hallway, you spot a skeleton shuffling around in a tattered and threadbare floral-print housecoat. You ready your weapon and move forward to attack, and as the skeleton senses your presence, it whirls around. The housecoat flaps open. The skeleton has another, smaller skeleton hanging just below its ribcage. Like the skeleton of a monkey, or... or... a doll. Yes, that must be what it is. A doll skeleton. Which is jeering and clacking its little teeth at you.
A skeleton approaches you, its teeth chattering, its movements stuttering and twitchy. You stand your ground firmly. "I bet you think you're frightening," you say. "Well, I'm not scared of you!"

The skeleton pauses, then says, "Everyone you love will eventually die and leave you all alone. The only way to avoid this loneliness is for you to die first. The universe is incomprehensibly large and chaotic, and far from missing you, it will not even notice your departure, any more than it noticed your arrival. The inevitable fate of all life is oblivion."

"That's... better," you say.

As you turn the corner in the castle hallway, you encounter a skeleton. You charge in for the attack, and the skeleton jumps back, and waves its hands at you frantically to stop. Puzzled by this unexpected turn of events, you lower your weapon. The skeleton nods at you, then points to its left leg. You notice that it has a healed fracture in the middle of its left shin, and it occurs to you that you broke your leg in the same place in a bicycle accident when you were twelve. Then the skeleton points to its right humerus, about an inch below the shoulder. There's a healed fracture there too, in the same spot you broke your arm while skiing about three years ago.

"Okay, well," you say, "that's an interesting coincidence, but..."

The skeleton steps closer, and points to its front teeth; the lower-left one has a chip out of it, identical to the chipped tooth you got in a tavern brawl last week.

"Shut up!" you say, and raise your weapon. The skeleton grins at you, as though daring you to attack it.

A skeleton approaches you, staring intently with its empty sockets, and begins to whisper at you: "So hot..."

"What?" you ask. The unfathomable depth and blackness of its gaze is almost dizzying.

"You must be so hot in all that skin. Stifling. Sweltering. Take it off. Take it off and feel the cool air on your bones. Take it off and join us." Now that it mentions it, you do feel rather... warm... Your skin is hot. And heavy. And it itches. You feel like you're wearing a heavy winter coat in the summertime. Maybe it would be better...

Sensing your hesitation, the skeleton reaches forward to help. You come to your senses just in time.
