Arena Messages
- None - familiar has no weaknesses.
Notes
- The value of X is between 1 and Y+3, where Y is the familiar's weight.
- When it delevels (the disappointed message), it delevels 1 to floor(weight/4) levels (similar to a Spooky Pirate Skeleton).
- The familiar acts 20+(weight*2.5)% of the time. All combat actions are equally likely.
References
- "May flowers" refers to the saying "April showers bring May flowers".
- One of the victory messages mentions Purple Rain, which is the name of a song/album/film by Prince. The "purple is the color of muscles!" may also be a reference to the purple zits some people get when they take steroids.
- The second line of the Haiku refers to the Burt Bacharach and Hal David song "Raindrops Keep Fallin' on My Head", performed by B.J. Thomas on the soundtrack of the 1969 movie Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.
- The concept of a "personal raincloud" that follows someone around probably dates from the "world's worst jinx" character Joe Btfsplk in the Al Capp comic strip Li'l Abner. Personal dust clouds or rainclouds have appeared with numerous other characters since then, including Pig-Pen in the Peanuts comic strip and the animated Schleprock in The Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm Show (also a terrible jinx). Rain and rainclouds follow the character Rob McKenna in So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish by Douglas Adams wherever he goes. A localized rain-and-thundercloud also floats above the rolling home of The Addams Family in their original Hanna-Barbera animated series.
- The name may be a reference to the Metal Slug series of games, in which the player could obtain a personal thundercloud that attacked enemies with lightning bolts.
