None Shall Pass
You start down another back alley in the Seaside Megalopolis, but before you get too far a voice shouts, "HALT! YOU CANNOT PASS!"
"What are you, a wizard?" you ask, trying to find the source of the voice.
"NO. I AM THE K9-347 ROBOT, AND YOU CANNOT PASS WITHOUT A PASS!" A robot with two long legs and a robotic dog's head stomps out in front of you and growls menacingly.
"So I need a pass, or I can't pass."
"THAT IS CORRECT! NONE SHALL PASS!"
"Well, then," you say, "can I have a pass? Please?"
The robot is silent for a moment, as it considers your proposal. "WELL, SINCE YOU SAID PLEASE. YOU MAY BUY A PASS AND CONTINUE ON YOUR WAY. A SINGLE PASS IS 30 MEAT, BUT SINCE YOU ASKED NICELY, YOU MAY BUY A MULTI-PASS FOR 60. IT'S GOOD FOR THE WHOLE DAY, AND TOMORROW TOO, IF YOU GET YOUR HAND STAMPED ON EXITING THE MEGALOPOLIS."
Buy a single pass
You pony up your 30 meat. The robot whirrs, clicks, and steps aside, allowing you to pass. You walk off before it has a chance to change its mind, sprinting for a few blocks to get your blood pumpin'.
You lose 30 Meat.
You gain 50 Beefiness.
Buy a multi-pass
You insert 60 meat into a slot in the robot's front. It whirrs, clicks, and spits out a bona-fide multi-pass.
You lose 60 Meat.
You acquire an item: multi-pass
Take a pass on the passes
You don't want to give any stinkin' robot any hard-earned meat. You decide to find another way through the Megalopolis.
Occurs at Seaside Megalopolis.
- This adventure references the wizard, Gandalf the Grey, from The Lord of the Rings and his famous line "You shall not pass!".
- K-9 was the robot dog from Doctor Who.
- A two-legged dog who will not let you pass until you say please may be a reference to Sir Didymus from the 1986 movie Labyrinth
- And of course the Multipass is another Fifth Element reference, like so many others in this area.
