Arena Messages
- When entered in a game of Hide and Seek:
- The gears and blades in the Knob Goblin Organ Grinder's organ grinder are too loud for him to hide effectively.
Notes
- This familiar will attack 25% of the time, regardless of the weight. It does approximately its own weight in damage.
- Consecutive pies require more organs to create, capping at 50 parts needed from the seventh pie onwards (in a 5-10-16-23-31-40-50 fashion). The microwave stogie appears to reduce the parts needed to create pies from the second onward by 5, effectively resulting in a 5-5-11-18-26-35-45 pattern.
- With the Just the Best Anapests effect active, the after combats message and pie acquisition messages are suppressed. This is a known issue.
- The type of pie made is dependent on the kind(s) of stuffing added by the Organ Grinder since you last received a pie. The pie type is determined by the following rules:
- If the organ grinder has garnered any stuffing from a monster fought underwater, the next pie is guaranteed to be a shoo-fish pie.
- If there is stuffing from a special important monster, but no stuffing from a monster fought underwater, then the next pie will be a badass pie.
- If no badass or underwater filling is present, then an elementally themed pie will be selected from among the elements for which the player has collected stuffing.
- Note that this means that the player may guarantee any particular elemental pie by defeating at least one monster of the desired element, plus as many non-elemental monsters as they wish.
- In the absence of any badass, underwater, or elemental stuffing, a liver and let pie will be created.
- To summarize: the order of preference is (shoo-fish pie > bad-ass pie > elemental pie > liver and let pie).
- A sea monster not fought underwater (e.g. copied monster) does not count for a shoo-fish pie. Conversely, fighting a normal monster underwater (e.g. wandering monster) does count.
- The pie counter resets at rollover, however your Organ Grinder will remember parts from the previous day. For example, if you grind a badass before rollover, your first pie of the next day will be a badass pie.
- The following encounters have been verified to count towards badass pie acquisition:
- Baron von Ratsworth
- Boss Bat
- Bugbear Captain
- The Knob Goblin King
- All four mini-bosses from the Undefile the Cyrpt Quest
- The Bonerdagon
- Groar
- Ron "The Weasel" Copperhead

References
- The fact that this familiar is a British-speaking figure who grinds up foes and makes them into meat pies inevitably brings to mind the character Sweeney Todd.
- Much of what the Organ Grinder says is Cockney rhyming slang. For example, "McIntyre" rhymes with "fire," and is thus used as a replacement for the word. As another example, the last word of the phrase "becks and dosh" rhymes with "nosh" (meaning "to eat"). It can get even more twisted than that: "Gregory" refers to the neck (Gregory Peck -> neck) and "Barney" refers to trouble (Barney Rubble -> trouble). We could go on here, but listing every single explanation would probably make this section too long!
