It's a Trap! A Smashy Trap.
You see a big stone block with an eye carved into its center and knobbly ridges on the outside. As you're scoping out the area around it, a cultist wanders past it, causing it to instantly fly toward him and crush him into a paste. Your eyes follow the path the cultist was on, and see an ornate golden door set in a distant wall.
As you're trying to figure out how to approach the smashy trap, it abruptly begins approaching you instead. You'd better think fast!

You make it to the door just in time, but it's locked, so it turns out that the thing you're just in time for is getting crushed by the trap anyway. But hey, at least you got crushed against something expensive.

With a key
You dart toward the door, noticing at the last minute that it's locked. You grab a key, shove it in the lock, and make it through just in the nick of time. You look around, and see that you've made it into a city where the streets are paved with gold!
