Explain usage / usefulness of new inventory tab system

The Inventory is how items are managed in KoL. It is divided up into four pages (Consumables, Equipment, Miscellaneous, & Favorites) navigable via each page's top menu. The menu atop the Inventory page also includes link to various crafting menus.

Consumables

Food and Drink

All food and drink (consumable items that add to fullness) are kept here. This includes beverages that give fullness, such as Ent cider.

Booze

All booze (consumable items that increase drunkenness) are kept here.

Miscellaneous

The rest of the consumable items are kept here. This includes spleen items (consumables that damage your spleen) and restorative items.

Equipment

Hats

All of the Hats you've collected are stored here.

Shirts

All of the Shirts you've collected are stored here.

Melee Weapons

All of the Melee Weapons (weapons that use your Muscle to hit) you've collected are stored here.

Mysticality Weapons

All of the Mysticality Weapons (weapons that require Mysticality to equip) you've collected are stored here.

Ranged Weapons

All of the Ranged Weapons (weapons that use your Moxie to hit) you've collected are stored here.

Off-Hand Items

All of the Off-Hand Items you've collected are stored here. Off-hand items are things you can carry that aren't weapons.

Containers

All of the Containers (an obsolete equipment type) you've collected are stored here.

Pants

All of the Pants you've collected are stored here.

Accessories

All of the Accessories you've collected are stored here.

Familiar Equipment

All of the familiar equipment items you've collected are stored here.

Miscellaneous

Gift Packages

This sections contains Gift Packages. During Ronin or Hardcore, they cannot be opened, and are instead listed at the bottom of the page.

Miscellaneous Items

This section contains everything that can't be otherwise classified. In other words, miscellaneous items.

(Mostly) Potions

Items that (usually) give you beneficial effects can be found under (Mostly) Potions.

(Mostly) Combat Items

This section contains items that can be used in combat. Some can be used outside of combat as well.

Quest Items

This section contains all Quest Items collected during a character's current lifetime. They disappear upon ascending.

Bag Of Animal Bones

This section contains all of the dusty animal bones collected.

Avatar-Changing Potions

This section contains all of the Monster Manuel potions collected.

Upper Menu

The upper menu provides links to the various crafting sections. These only appear if you have the proper item to craft with, except for sell stuff.

sell stuff

From the sell stuff menu, you can hawk items for their autosell value.

craft stuff

From the craft stuff menu, you can create new items and review the recipes you've discovered.

combine stuff

From here, you can Meat Paste items together (provided you have the meat paste).

cook stuff

From here, you can cook all sorts of things (provided you have an E-Z Cook Oven™).

smith/smash stuff

From here, you can Meatsmith weapons and equipment, or smash them if you have the Pulverize skill. Both activities require a tenderizing hammer.

make cocktails

From here, you can mix all sorts of drinks (provided you have a cocktailcrafting kit).

make jewelry

From here, you can craft jewelry (provided you have a pair of jewelry-making pliers. You can also craft Really Expensive Jewelrycrafting, if you have the skill.

discoveries

From here, you can review and create items and recipes that you already have created, untinkered or found from other sources.
