• "Popsicle of Wine" is a reference to the Talking Heads song "Popsicle", whose chorus goes: "Popsicle of love / Gimme gimme gimme one of those / (It's summertime, boy!)"
• The "smash the bottle and have a wine popsicle" line is a reference to a Black Books episode where Bernard Black puts a bottle of wine into his freezer, takes it out when it's frozen, smashes the glass off it and starts to lick the winesicle, much to the amazement of the customers.
