I Just Wanna Fly
As you wander through the frat house, you see yet another creepy frat boy walking toward you. You ready yourself for combat, but he doesn't seem to want to fight.
"Hey, bra," he says. "I need some help. I heard about this awesome way to get chicks to, like, do whatever you want, dude. You take these bugs -- they're called, like, Spanish Flies, I think. You take 'em and you put 'em in a blender, and you drink the juice, and then you're totally irresistible to women."
"Drinking bugs makes women like you?" You ask.
"Dude, you've never hung out with sorority orcs, have you, bra? Anyway, if you can find me some Spanish Flies, I'll totally give you some high-quality booze. Those weird dudes on the big ship over there said they could help me out, but I'm busy copying this homework so it'll be in my handwriting."
You start to leave and the frat boy calls you back over. "Oh, I forgot, bra. I can't make the love juice with less than five flies, so don't bother coming back until you have at least that many, okay, bra?"
Occurs at Orcish Frat House.
Notes
- This is the first requirement for the Around the World Quest.
- This adventure is only triggered if you don't have an Around the world in your inventory.
References
- The name of the adventure is repeated in the chorus of the 1998 song "Fly" by Sugar Ray.
- Spanish fly, or Lytta vesicatoria is the name of a beetle which at one time was believed to have had aphrodisiac qualities. It causes priapism in very small doses and the margin between the effective and (even more) harmful doses is narrow.
- The comment about copying homework so that it is in one's own handwriting may be a reference to Back To The Future. In Back to the Future, the story's antagonist, Biff, says that the protagonist's father must bring him his essay, which was written for him, a day early so he can copy it in his handwriting. This is repeated again in another movie in the trilogy, except in the form of a typed report, alluding to the antagonist's lack of intellect.
