Hammer or Hammee?

You see Yossarian sitting on an old carburetor, melting a chocolate bar over a sterno can, with a bag of cotton balls nearby for dipping. You tap him on the shoulder, which causes him to jump about three-quarters of the way out of his skin (metaphorically speaking, thank goodness). "Thanks for getting my molybdenum hammer back from those freakin' gremlins," he says. "Those bastards are trying to kill me! I mean, they're trying to kill everyone, but I don't see how that makes a difference. Anyway, since the war's over, I'm retiring from the military-machine-building business, but I'll give you some meat for the hammer."

Since you're tired of hammering in the morning and the evening, and don't feel you have the time to hammer all over this land, you hand over the hammer.

Meat.gifYou gain 1,500 Meat.

Occurs at The Junkyard (Post-War).

  • The text refers to the song "If I Had a Hammer": "If I had a hammer / I'd hammer in the morning / I'd hammer in the evening / All over this land."
  • The part about "trying to kill me", "trying to kill everyone" is very close to some of Yossarian's dialogue in Catch-22.
  • Yossarian appears to be making Milo Minderbinder's chocolate-covered cotton.
