Fire When Ready
Inside the shrine you find an altar with a snakelike figure with a fiery tail carved on it. You consult your father's diary and identify him as Charcoatl, the Ancient God of Fire and War.
Atop the altar is a round impression, which gives the all around impression of being a good receptacle for a round object of some description.
with a scorched stone sphere in your inventory:
The scorched sphere begins to emit thick black smoke as it nears the altar.
with a 5-ball in your inventory:
The 5-ball in your sack begins to emit a bright red glow.

You place your head in the impression and are struck with a vision. In it, a ghostly figure taps its foot impatiently as a bowling ball polishing machine does its work on a stone sphere.
The vision fades, and as you stumble out of the shrine, you wonder if maybe the bowling alley you passed on the way in here isn't the one from the vision. Maybe you should check it out.

You place the sphere in the depression atop the altar. You hear a click, and the sphere sinks into the stone and disappears. There is a loud grinding noise, and a niche opens on the front of the altar, containing an odd triangular stone.

You place the pool ball in the depression on the altar. There is a pregnant pause, as though your offering is being carefully considered. Eventually, it disappears into the altar, and you feel a minor surge of power throughout your body. You get the impression that it wasn't really what the god was looking for, but that it was close enough to be worth something.
