Notes
- Eldritch Knowledge sometimes displays a message after combat:
- Something whispers in the back of your mind,
- "We wait. For now."
- Possible messages include:
- "Be sure to drink your Ovaltine."
- "Death is coming from beyond."
- "From the shadows will emerge your doom."
- "Gird your loins, for we are rising."
- "Out of the shadows..."
- "Those that wait in the shadows are longing for the light."
- "Watch out."
- "We wait. For now."
- "We're coming..."
- Beginning around October 15, 2016, another, smaller message sometimes appeared beneath the first:
- Is that a wriggling sound?
- What was that, by the shadows?
- On October 19, 2016, new messages were seen:
- "Beware the Ides of Starch!"
- "I estimate that this barrier will hold us for a week or two at most!"
- "The shadows can not hold us for much longer."
- "When the time is right, out of the shadows we'll lurch."
- On October 29, 2016, the messages started occurring at a much higher frequency, with even more new messages:
- "Soon you will know us in our full glory."
- "We are coming. We are coming for you."
- "We are the darkness that is inside of you."
- "We are the memory you have forced yourself to forget."
- "We know that you can hear us."
- "We will reclaim what was stolen from us."
- "We will teach you how to unsee."
- "We will tear away the mask you wear."
- "Which of you killed <eldritch horror name>?."
- "You cannot escape. There is nowhere you can run."
- "You will not fear us. You do not have a word for the emotion we will evoke in you."
- "Your mind is our doorway and we are opening it."
- Having this skill while fighting an Eldritch Tentacle will name the tentacles in the initial combat message, e.g. "You're fighting an Eldritch Tentacle named <Blrgblrghsssssbrghbrgh>".
- Having this skill allows the crafting of eldritch concentrate from 111 eldritch effluvia.
- Having this skill allows the cooking of eldritch distillate from eldritch extract + handful of fire.
- Having this skill allows the mixing of eldritch elixir from eldritch distillate + eldritch distillate.
- Having this skill allows an additional eldritch effluvium to drop from Eldritch Tentacles.
- Having this skill while fighting an Eldritch Tentacle gives a chance of collecting an extra data point for Dr. Stuart:
- "Your Eldritch Intellect allows you to make your observation extra accurate."
References
- "Be sure to drink your Ovaltine" refers to "secret decoder ring" messages that were part of a promotion for the drink product. This Ovaltine promotion was also referenced in A Christmas Story and in previous adventures in the Kingdom.
