Don't You Know Who I Am?

Clancy digs through the artifacts in the Middle Chamber, picking up jars and tossing them behind him. "It's got to be in one of these," he says. "Nope! That one's a pickled liver. Ugh, that one's a spleen. Gah, that one's an entire small intestine! Serves me right for opening the really big one. Ah, here we are. . ."

From a small jar with the picture of a lute on it, Clancy pulls out a papyrus scroll. "Here it is! The last song of Ed the Probably Immortal But No One's Tested That Theory Yet!"

"What's it about?" you ask.

"Oh, it's thy typical song of boasts, good <playername>," Clancy says. "He will live forever, he will learn how to fly, you will remember his name, that sort of thing."

"Well, you gotta admit, he was right," you say, "but maybe you can modernize it a little bit?"

"Indeed," Clancy says, "I shall write for thee a boasting song far better than this one! And first I shall write a boasting song for me, of how good my boasting song for you will be! I shall tell of my skills, and how they provide monetary compensation for me to meet my financial obligations!"

"You do that, good Clancy," you say, as he starts humming to himself.

Clancy gains a level!

Occurs at The Middle Chamber.

  • Apparently Ed wrote the Irene Cara hit "Fame".
  • Clancy's better song seems uncannily like the Beastie Boys' "Skills to Pay the Bills."
