This is an automated death ray, perched precariously in a pear tree. It's not clear why the Crimborg didn't put it on, say, a sturdy tripod, or something. Maybe they recently assimilated a culture that was big on design flaws.
Hit Message(s):
It fires a beam straight through you, and apparently it was set on "bit of a cold." You sneeze so hard you get a headache. Eek! Ouch! Argh!
It fires straight at your head, but fortunately it was only set on "crushing headache," rather than "instant death." Well, relatively fortunately. Ow! Ugh! Oof!
It shoots your leg. Gah! Dead leg! Oof! Oof! Argh!
It fires a beam through you. Looks like it was set on "mangle" rather than "death," which is sort of good news. Eek! Argh! Ugh!
It falls out of its precarious perch in the pear tree and lands directly on your <skull>. Well -- I mean, it's pretty big, so it also lands directly on your <shins> as well. Ouch! Ooh! Ouch!
It fires a beam straight through you, but unlike all other things, you don't serve the beam.
It fires at you, but you dodge in some really cool way. Use your imagination.
It fires a beam at you, and apparently it was set on "sudden interest in botany." You're able to resist the urge to examine the pear tree, though.
It fires straight at your head, but you duck.
It falls out of its perch in the pear tree and crashes to the ground. It sends out a distress call and repair droids start fixing it, but it'll take a little while. (FUMBLE!)

- This monster is based on the song "The Twelve Days of Christmas" in which, on the first day of Christmas, the gift given is "a partridge in a pear tree."
- The miss message about serving the beam references Stephen King's Dark Tower series. The specific reference is to an expression which states "All things serve the Beams, and the Beams serve the Tower."
- The "bit of a cold", "crushing headache", and "sudden interest in botany" settings on the death ray are taken from a skit by comedian Eddie Izzard about Star Trek.
