Anyone figure that the pentagram of elements might be a throwback to the M:tG pentagram of colors or the whole Pokemon super-effective/not effective system? Just a thought. --Memnarch6 01:13, 21 February 2006 (Central Standard Time)

  • Well it's directly based on Magic: The Gathering which was around like decades before Pokemon. Pokemon might've stolen from the same source though. --NewZorkBat 02:53, 21 February 2006 (Central Standard Time)
    • The first Pokemon video game came out in 1988, well before MtG. And I think it used the opposed element system even then? Never actually played one of the things, though. --Starwed 15:04, 5 March 2006 (CST)
      • Jick finds the Pokemon games boring, and I assume, is unlikely to lift anything from them. --Ricket 04:02, 11 March 2006 (CST)
        • This might be simply nitpicky, but this elemental diagram is quite different from the M:tG one. In M:tG, the two kinds of elemental relationships are "allied" (adjacent) and "opposed" (opposite), which are symmetric relationships. In this diagram, the "strong against" and "weak against" relationships are not symmetric, they are in fact asymmetric, meaning that this diagram cannot be rearranged into the M:tG one. Not knowing pokemon at all, I cannot comment on its similarity (or lack thereof) there.--Yiab 08:53, 11 March 2006 (CST)
  • It occurs to me that the five item setup that Jick made of the elements might refer to the Rock Paper Scissors Spock Lizard on asymmetric.net that he originally took from here. It's got the same layout as the winning moves in that game. What'da think, seem a logical connection?--Hamelin 02:50, 13 March 2006 (CST)

The sections about monsters that deal elemental damage is pretty lacking. Could anyone help? -blahking

Yeah, I was noticing that certain areas/monsters were taking more damage than others (double, so it seems logical). The main example is the Trouser Snake. It takes double cold and spooky, regular heat, and I assume minimal sleaze damage (or stench). I think we should consider putting their apparent weaknesses and resistences for each monster in their discussion section until we can get an official OK on implementing it entirely. Then it might go in the notes section...or get a section of its own! Golly gee!!!--Teenr0cker 03:30, 11 March 2006 (CST)

We totally need information dealing with the colors of the damages.--Unnatural20 10:17, 1 February 2006 (Central Standard Time)

Elemental strengths (& weaknesses?)

This original image posted by Jick on the forums shows the strengths of the different elements against other elements. A tidy version of this could go onto the Category:Elements page. Or even this one, it looks very KoL. :) --NewZorkBat 14:50, 2 February 2006 (Central Standard Time)

I removed this from the page:

  • One point which is unclear is how the elemental resistance accessories work. If an adventuerer is treated as having the element to which he is resistant, then resistance to a single element could mean weakness to two others. This can easily be tested by wearing a lihc face to The Deep Fat Friars' Gate or Guano Junction.

Speculation belongs on the talk page, not on the article. Besides, this theory is sheer nonsense; if it were true, you would actually take more damage from elements when elemental saucesphere was in effect; one of your elemental resistances would reduce the damage, but two others would increase it. --rhebus 03:18, 17 February 2006 (Central Standard Time)

Better Image?

The Elements section at Coldfront has an excellent element pentagram. It looks much cleaner than the one currently in use. Anyone think we should swap the current one for the prettyful one? --Southwest 15:25, 7 May 2006 (CDT)

I don't like the new image. I liked the way it showed that it was a star-shape. The new one doesn't do that. I think maybe we could use this image:

Moving Areas that Require Resistance

I submit that we move the mentions about areas with resistance requirements from the top of the five element pages to their own subsection in the Resistance section. I think it's easily missed up there at the top, and since "Damage Received From Monsters" is a subcategory, I feel we should add "Areas that Require Resistance" to the Resistance category on each page and move those bits of info down (notice the inconspicuous mention of the Icy Peak on the cold page or Guano Junction on the stench page). Any objections? --LucySpace (Talk|Cntrbs) 14:45, 27 June 2006 (CDT)

Physical resistance

there are now multipul areas where the monsters have physical resistance. I think we need to add a physical to the elemental script so that it fits better into the templates. --Univector llama 12:43, 30 August 2006 (CDT)
