If encountered at the Lair of the Ninja Snowmen:
A shadow among shadows, a whisper among the rustling of leaves, an honor among thieves, the Black Ops Bugbears are a highly trained special unit of spies and assassins. They've been assessing the potential threat that the Ninja Snowmen would be to an invasion, and this guy's none too pleased that you've spotted him. I mean, he's supposed to be cloaked in stealthy shadow. It's bad etiquette to go, "hey, there you are!"
If encountered in Special Ops:
You spy one of the skulking Black Ops bugbears and tackle him before he gets a chance to slink back into the shadows.
Hit Message(s):
He vanishes into the shadows, then fires a silenced pistol at your <skull>. Argh! Ouch! Ouch!
He rappels down from the ceiling and punches you in the head. Oof! Ow! Ugh!
He vanishes, then reappears behind you with a dagger to your <foot>. Oof! Eek! Argh!
He vanishes from sight, and then a nearby cardboard box kicks you in the leg. Oof! Eek! Ouch!
A little red dot appears on your arm and travels up to your forehead. You sincerely hope someone's playing with a laser pointer until you hear the *BANG* Argh! Oof! Argh! Ooh!
He ducks behind you and whispers "boo." Impressive, but not effective.
He rappels down from the ceiling toward you, but you duck.
He hides under a nearby cardboard box. You wait for him to come back out.
He vanishes into the shadows. You twiddle your thumbs and wait.
He vanishes into the shadows, silent as the grave. Then you hear a very loud belch, and he's too embarrassed to attack for a while. (FUMBLE!)

- The miss message where he hides under a cardboard box is a reference to the popular Metal Gear video game series in which the player (from Metal Gear Solid onwards) can do so to varying degrees of success dependent upon one's surroundings.
