As you wander around BorderTown, contemplating buying some overpriced souvenirs and underpriced prescription drugs, you almost run over a little kid selling chewing gum.

"¿Quieres chicle?" He asks.

"Me no hablo whatever you just said."

"¿Quieres chicle?" He asks again, holding up his boxes of gum.

"Oh, okay. Me no quieres chicle."

"El portero está quemando mi chaqueta en la cocina del hotel, gringo tonto." The kid says.

"Huh?"

"¿Quieres chicle?"

"Look, I don't know what you're saying, but no." You start to walk away.

"Aimez-vous acheter du gomme?"

"You speak French?"

"¿Quieres chicle?"

You buy some of the kid's chewing gum just to get him off your back.

• "El portero está quemando mi chaqueta en la cocina del hotel, gringo tonto," is Spanish for, "The doorman is burning my jacket in the hotel kitchen, stupid foreigner."
• "Aimez-vous acheter du gomme?" is poor French. "Aimez-vous acheter" translates as "do you like to buy"; additionally, the incorrect partitive article is used for the feminine noun "gomme." A more proper way of phrasing it would be "Aimeriez-vous acheter de la gomme?" -- "Would you like to buy some gum?"
