Stumbling through the fog, you encounter a strange man in a bowler hat, smoking a pipe. He takes it out of his mouth, and holds it up. "This is not a pipe," he says enigmatically.

"I'm pretty sure that IS a pipe, actually," you reply.

"This is not a pipe."

"Yes it is, you were smoking it just a second ago. Why have you got that huge apple in front of your face?"

"This is not a pipe."

"All right, fine, whatever." You turn and head back into the fog.

This way

That way

The other way

Escape

Occurs in the Violet Fog.

References

  • This encounter refers to the Belgian surrealist painter René Magritte. The apple in front of his face refers his work "Le fils de l'homme" ("The Son of Man"). The 'this is not a pipe' refers to his painting "La Trahison des Images" ("The Treachery of Images") which features a pipe with the aforementioned caption.
