Violet Fog (Giant Chessboard)

Wandering through the violet fog, you come upon a bunch of guys sitting on a giant chessboard. When you approach them to ask where you should go, they all get up and point in different directions. Sigh. If only your mind weren't moving so slow, you'd be able to find your own way out.

• The adventure references the song "White Rabbit" by Jefferson Airplane (which is itself a reference to the Alice books): "When men on the chessboard / get up and tell you where to go / and you've just had some kind of mushroom / and your mind is moving low" (frequently misheard as "slow").
• This scene with the chessboard is also similar to a scene in Through the Looking-Glass, and What Alice Found There.
