Tomb rat

 You're fighting a tomb ratThis is a tomb rat. Before the Days of Yore, the monarchs of Loathing were buried with huge stores of grain, because it was believed that grain was used as currency in the afterlife. It was also believed that the roads were paved with gold, and that there was a solid gold tollbooth at every intersection, so it was vitally important to carry plenty of grain if you expected to actually get anywhere in the afterlife. The government of the afterlife claimed they used the grain to fund road improvements, but that always seemed a little suspicious. I mean, the roads are made of solid gold. How can you possibly improve that?
Oh, right, the rat. Yeah, because of all of the grain, these tombs frequently filled up with rats. This is one of them.

- A James Cagney impression would undoubtedly end with you calling the monster a "dirty rat", a much-quoted line by James Cagney in the 1931 movie Blonde Crazy (though the original line was "that dirty double-crossing rat").
