Possible Reference

  • I'm wondering if this item is influenced by an old irish toast - the particular passage I'm thinking of is:
    • "Here's champagne for our real friends, and real pain for our sham friends".

  • I'm wondering if it's a direct reference to that phrase, or a direct reference to the song by Fallout Boy Champagne for My Real Friends, Real Pain for My Sham Friends. In the trivia section for that Wikipedia page there is a small trivia note "The song "Champagne for My Real Friends, Real Pain for My Sham Friends" is taken from a quote by Edward Norton in the film, 25th Hour; this, itself, is a reference to Tom Waits." So, who knows what the real reference is. --Fryguy9 18:57, 3 June 2007 (CDT)
