Hodgman's lobsterskin pants
This pair of pants is sewn together from the pelts of dozens of lobsters, each of which was slain by Hodgman personally. It was sort of like that scene in Conan -- he got chased into a cave by a bunch of lobsters, then in the cave he found a pot of boiling water that once belonged, however improbably, to his father, and when he emerged, he was wearing these.

- The fact that Hodgman drops something lobster-related is a reference to John Hodgman's book, The Areas of My Expertise, and a rather silly story regarding lobsters contained within. More specifically, the "lobster", or more exactly, the "furry old lobster", an alleged and now-extinct creature that was formerly called a "lobster", more resembling an otter (hence the fact that these pants are made from the pelts of lobsters). The boiling is purely coincidental.
