Vermincelli

Vermincelli

Vermincelli are a type of summoned entity which Pastamancers can call upon in combat under certain conditions. By using a crumbling rat skull you establish a connection with it.

The Pastamancer can then summon it from the first round of combat after getting the jump on an enemy. Vermincelli attack and cause recurring damage throughout the fight.

Combat Messages

  • When summoning it:
You summon a tangled mass of noodles. There is a rustling sound as <name> chews his way into the world to occupy his new body.
  • Message after summoning when you have already summoned a Pastamancer combat ghost 7 or 8 times today:
Your brain feels tired.
  • Message after summoning when you have already summoned a Pastamancer combat ghost 9 times today:
You are mentally exhausted by the effort of summoning <name>.
  • When it levels up:
<name> looks stronger...
  • Initial attack:
<name> pauses from always running here and there to viciously bite your opponent for X damage with his plague-filled pasta teeth. Al dente, indeed.
  • Every subsequent round:
Your opponent coughs up Y points' worth of plague-filled phlegm. Isn't it bubonic? Don't you think?
  • Level 5 ability, initial round, if the player has any negative status effects:
<name> licks your wounds, and you feel a little better. I mean, better than you'd feel with just the wound, but not as good as you'd feel without the wound and without the ratspit, too.
  • Level 10 ability, at end of combat:
<name> hoards some extra HP and MP, and begrudgingly passes them along to you.
HPYou gain 29-52 hit points.
MPYou gain 29-48 Mana points.

Name

All Vermincelli appear to be named "Ben".

Notes

  • One of the Summonable Pastamancer Combat Entities.
  • Initial attack damage ranges from 3*level to 4*level.
  • Plague damage in each subsequent round ranges from 2*level to 3*level.
  • At level 5, the Vermincelli gains the ability to remove all negative status effects in the first round after it is summoned.
  • At level 10, the Vermincelli restores HP and MP at the end of combat.

References

  • "Isn't it Bubonic? Don't you think?" refers to Alanis Morisette's song "Ironic."
  • The name "Ben" is a reference to the movie Willard, in which the main character owns a rat named Ben, and trains him to kill.
