Ok, I updated my script so that you can set an interval. You will have to get this one manually since I made a typo in the last version.--SomeStranger (T | C) 19:20, 29 May 2006 (CDT)

Category Sorting

  • Help:Contents#Category_Sorting: An article is defaultly listed in a category as its page name, you only need to "override" its listing when you don't want the page to be sorted by it's page name, like when a page starts with "the" or "a" or something similar. ;-) --JRSiebz (|§|) 02:29, 4 June 2006 (CDT)
    • I see! Thanks for the heads up. :) Also, thanks for tweaking my pages. It's really helping me get the hang of it because there's no pressure to finish the pages as quickly as I can. It's also quite helpful to see your tweaks. --LucySpace 02:33, 4 June 2006 (CDT)

Possessives

  • is this a UK/US thing? AFAICR, both adams' and adams's are correct. i wasn't saying that adams's was wrong, even though i don't like it personally because it's clumsy. it's just that you made a needless edit on something that is just personal preference. i accept i could be wrong, though. --Evilkolbot 12:43, 5 June 2006 (CDT)
    • which style guide are you using? whichever, although i agree that this should be a beacon of syntactic and grammatical purity, since in this case it makes no odds either way you should allow people the leeway to do as they feel appropriate. --Evilkolbot 13:12, 5 June 2006 (CDT)
      • ok, reading that wiki page suggests that s's is canonical to that writer and not DNA. oh well. i changed the original edit back because you made a wrong value judgement about someone else's prose. to restate, s' is not wrong, you just don't like it. there was no need to be unkind. --Evilkolbot 15:40, 5 June 2006 (CDT)
      • see Hellion's user page for my current last word on this topic. --Evilkolbot 16:13, 5 June 2006 (CDT)

I hope I'm in the right place.

Dear Lucyspace2,
I'm glad that I was able to help finish your project. It was a useful way to fiddle with the wiki and get something done as well. I was also concerned about getting those image file names onto the page and while I am studying programming at my college, I'm not yet able to make advanced programs to do what you described. Yet, in doing this manually, I think I've learned a lot about using the wiki (I even set up my own user page). Don't be surprised if you see more projects disappearing as I learn.
Signed,
--Ponjos 15:14, 4 June 2006 (CDT)

Thanks, and thanks

  • two things.
  1. nice work on the fruity golem. rude comments in comments tags seem to be ignored anyway, so your addition is much welcomed.
  2. about the grimacite thing, it is undeniable that Phoenix would not be welcome in the Aryan Nation. ny inclusion of such a joke does, inevitably, lead one to suspect that, if not jick, then skully or xeno, is making an allusion to that fact. i did suspect that my comment might be thought in poor taste, though, and i accept that you were right to take it out.
--Evilkolbot 07:30, 17 June 2006 (CDT)
  • Awww, Evilkolbot! Big hugs! Your joke wasn't too bad, but I could see where someone might get the wrong idea. Is it wrong for me to have a warm feeling now? --LucySpace 18:10, 17 June 2006 (CDT)
  • Also, you probably one of the more chipper editors around the kolwiki-space. Many of us do *edit* *edit* *grammar*. It does help seeing *Whee edit* on the recent changes page; keep it up.--Dehstil (T | C) 18:32, 17 June 2006 (CDT)
    • Thanks, Dehstil :). Evilkolbot: your edit comment "no, no it doesn't (except in your fantasies)" CRACKED me UP! lol.. --LucySpace 20:51, 17 June 2006 (CDT)

Navigational Templates

JRSiebz went deleted a bunch of extraneous navigational templates a while back. The smaller groupings were fine though; this one should be ok, I think. If not, yay for discussion pages.--Dehstil (T | C) 18:35, 18 June 2006 (CDT)

  • Hmm, what sort did he remove? I can understand removing things like the oyster egg navigation because it's so ridiculously long as well as removing navigation for items that zap. --LucySpace 18:37, 18 June 2006 (CDT)
    • He removed all of the weapon-based ones because they were almost never in use. As to the egg one, I replaced its contents with a single witty (I think) sentence. Template:ZAP Oyster Eggs--SomeStranger (T | C) 23:05, 18 June 2006 (CDT)

Links to pages

Browse to the desired page, locate the "toolbox" on the left column (immediately below Search), then click "What links here". --Quietust 21:56, 18 June 2006 (CDT)

  • Aha! Oh man, I'm such a noob. Time for me to explore more. :) --LucySpace 22:09, 18 June 2006 (CDT)

Template:Item

A minor request, just to keep all of the pages consistent: put the vertical bar at the end of the line, and don't put actual line breaks in any of the fields - just do line 1<br /><br />line 2 for gaps in the item description and Muscle +1<br />Mysticality -1 for enchantments. --Quietust 23:18, 23 June 2006 (CDT)

  • Yeah, I just read your comment on the discussion page. This is taking me a seriously long time to do and I have no idea how you did it so friggin quickly. I had the | at the beginning because I put it into excel rather than trying to copy and paste each thing into each space or rather than pasting | into a third column in excel. I can do it your way if you like. It might take me a bit of time to redo it, though. I have sprocket-planks written into the template so far (31 items). It seems I can do about 2 per minute. I'm getting really antsy at how slowly this is going. I'd only gotten through copying and pasting half the item descriptions by the time you'd finished updating yours. What is your secret?! --LucySpace (Talk|Cntrbs) 23:26, 23 June 2006 (CDT)
    • My secret? I know lots of keyboard shortcuts (to copy an item's description once I open its window, I hit Ctrl+A Ctrl+C Alt+Tab Shift+Down Ctrl+V), and I type at about 100 words per minute. I also do all of my stuff in large blocks - copy the descriptions for 30 items, then open all the wiki pages into new tabs, then click the 'edit' links on all of them, then paste the base template into all of them, and then finally update them all. When all is said and done, I do an average of 1.5 items per minute - it just looks like I'm going really fast because you're only seeing the final stage go by all at once. --Quietust 23:31, 23 June 2006 (CDT)
      • Well, I use the keyboard shortcuts too and I type really fast. In fact, I think I might go nuts without shortcuts. Maybe it's something to do with my computer or my slow internet. I spend more time waiting around for windows to open than I do anything else. The ads take an especially long time to load. I'm on Windows 2000 with 14.30 GB. I'm currently using 208152K/340668K memory. Firefox froze while I was typing this and I had to kill the process. It always does that. It's really annoying.

        • Er, one other thing - don't put the }} on a new line. And have one blank line before whatever header is beneath it. --Quietust 00:45, 24 June 2006 (CDT)
          • *clucks her tongue* I think this might be the only set of items I update. --LucySpace (Talk|Cntrbs) 00:50, 24 June 2006 (CDT)
            • That's okay - like I said, if you don't like being as strict as me, then you can leave these massive updates to the masochists like me :). --Quietust 00:52, 24 June 2006 (CDT)

Herbal Stuffing edit

I was adventuring under The Opossum and received 24 adventures from eating an Herbal stuffing. I was under the impression that The Opossum granted a 0-1 adventure bonus, but I see that it has been updated to a 0-3 adventure bonus. Still, I received 24 adventures, so either the stuffing is incorrect or we do not understand the Opossum correctly. --Inlemur 17:32, 24 June 2006 (CDT)
