Urning Your Keep

Urning Your Keep
In the wall of this section of the Defiled Niche, you find three smaller niches. Each of those contains an even smaller niche, which in turn contains an urn.
The urns are basically identical. Do you feel like messing with any of them?
| Investigate the first urn
|
You lift the lid off of the urn, and see a tiny plaque on the underside -- it turns out these are the remains of Old Man McMurphy. You should've turned the urn!
You contemplate your mistake for a while, and while you're contemplating that, you contemplate all sorts of other important things, too.
First time:
As you reach for the urn to look inside it, you accidentally knock it out of its niche. Smooth move, Ex-Lax!
It hits the ground and shatters in a cloud of ash and pottery shards, revealing something hidden inside!
Subsequent times:
Actually, I was just kidding -- that urn isn't there anymore. Remember? You broke it.
As you pick up the urn to look behind it, you hear a click -- apparently the urn was sitting atop some sort of switch.
A sequence of eight tinny-sounding bells plays from somewhere as a panel slides open on the opposite wall, revealing a treasure chest.
You open the chest, and surprise! It's full of Meat!
 | You gain 200-300 Meat. |
You turn away from the urns.
Occurs in the Defiled Niche.
[edit] References
- McMurphy's remains and "turn the urn" are references to the text adventure game, "McMurphy's Mansion". There was a puzzle in that game, that when decoded, informed the player to "turn the urn" to achieve a goal.
- The 'eight tinny bells' is a reference to the 'hidden area' jingle from The Legend of Zelda, as is the revealed treasure chest.
- "Smooth move, Ex-Lax" is one of the catchphrases of the aforementioned laxative brand.
- The "Urn #3" is a play off the old game-show gag of seeing a prize selected from behind one of three curtains.
