The Sorceress' Mosquito

If this is the first of her familiars you face:

Still out of sight, the sorceress cackles madly.

"Kill the adventurer, my pet!" she shrieks.

If you have equipped a Sabre-Toothed Lime weighing at least 20 lbs:

A giant mosquito buzzes angrily toward you, proboscis at the ready.

<Familiar Name> snaps at the mosquito, trying to spear it with a tooth. Before it can, though, the mosquito strikes! It skewers <Familiar Name> and sucks down its bodyweight in lime juice. It then explodes, which is the mosquito equivalent of heartburn. Your lime is a little woozy, but given some juice and a cookie it should be all right.

You move further into the tower, while huge chunks of stone fall from the walls for no good reason.

If you have equipped a Sabre-Toothed Lime weighing less than 20 lbs:

A giant mosquito buzzes angrily toward you, proboscis at the ready.

<Familiar Name> circles the mosquito looking for a vulnerable spot to strike, and occasionally just trying to find the mosquito again. Suddenly, the mosquito skewers <Familiar Name> and starts drinking! The caustic lime juice weakens the mosquito, but it almost kills <Familiar Name>.

Disappointed by your failure, you stomp off in a huff, and stub your toe. Really hard.

You lose 50 hit points.

If you do not have a Sabre-Toothed Lime equipped:

A giant mosquito buzzes angrily toward you, proboscis at the ready.

<Familiar Name> circles the mosquito, looking for a vulnerable spot to strike. And, y'know, looking for the mosquito in general, as it's pretty small. Sadly, the mosquito skewers <Familiar Name> and drains its sweet, sweet essence. If only it hadn't been so irresistibly sweet...

Disappointed by your failure, you stomp off in a huff, and stub your toe. Really hard.

If you do not have any familiar equipped:

A giant mosquito buzzes angrily toward you, proboscis at the ready.

• If you are damaged to 0 HP by this creature, you will be Beaten Up for 4 adventures, instead of the usual 3.
