The Distant Woods are more distant and less nearby than The Nearby Plains. Note that once the Friars Quest is completed, the Copse and all its sub-areas are replaced by The Deep Fat Friars' Gate, which features all the same monsters as the Copse.

• The Typical Tavern
• The Copse of the Deep Fat Friars
  • The Dark Neck of the Woods
  • The Dark Heart of the Woods
  • The Dark Elbow of the Woods
    • The Deep Fat Friars' Gate
• The Black Forest
• The Crackpot Mystic's Shed
• The Hidden City
• The Hidden Temple appears here, after you've completed the Spooky Temple map quest.
• The Inexplicable Door (if you have a continuum transfunctioner equipped)
• The Worm Wood (if you have the effect Absinthe-Minded)
  • The Stately Pleasure Dome
  • The Rogue Windmill
  • The Mouldering Mansion

Mayor Zapruder, located inside Degrassi Knoll (available only to ascended muscle signs), will send you on quests in the Woods that will open up The Bugbear Pens and The Spooky Gravy Barrow. The Spooky Gravy Barrow will only appear if you've got a Flaming Gravy Fairy, Frozen Gravy Fairy, Stinky Gravy Fairy, Spooky Gravy Fairy or a Sleazy Gravy Fairy with you.
