Talk:Yummy Tummy bean

Is it just me or is this another case of reaching with the references.
First reference to Yummy, Yummy, Yummy, what do these things share except the word Yummy and the fact it had vague candy related language (like what 95% of the 60s Bubblegum Pop)?
Similarly the Harry potter reference while reasonable doesn't belong here for the fact that it is as I'm virtually certain until I see conclusive proof otherwise is itself a reference to Jelly Belly, jelly beans. My reasoning is as follows, Jelly Belly which was founded in the early 80s already in its original 50 selection featured a number of absurd choices. These included Jalapeno and toasted Marshmallow in addition to others. This sets Jelly Belly as predating Harry Potter, well known (staple of malls and was aboard a space shuttle in 1983, good ol corporate sites), and containing absurd flavors. As such I propose HP's jelly beans were a reference/send up to the popular and absurd brand (which the target audience of the time could identify with as the height of Jelly Belly popularity was during the late 80s and early 90s).
As such I'm removing both these references, and hope anyone who thinks they should go back in responds here first.--Practitioner of Saucy Arts 05:45, 1 May 2006 (CDT)
Perhaps someone should make a list of what each bean tastes like when you get a particular effect? -GG Crono
Well, for the poison effect, I get the message, "This one tastes like poison!" maybe I'll compile a listing once out of harcore.--Rikmach 01:33, 11 June 2006 (CDT)
The MP-increasing one is "This one tastes like Cola."--Rikmach 06:09, 14 June 2006 (CDT)
The old Dill potion effect has been replaced with the new one of +20 ML. "The one tatses like pickles" and I got 5 rounds of Contemptible Emanations.--Shoptroll 08:07, 16 June 2006 (CDT)
Flavors have been updated. Now how about likeliness?--Foggy 10:12, 23 June 2006 (CDT)
Someone added the Harry Potter reference again. I thing having the Harry Potter reference listed, but the fact that it's not likely, should help avoid people re-adding this non-reference.--Foggy 13:15, 24 June 2006 (CDT)
- My guess is that while Jelly Belly usually has enjoyable flavors, Bertie Botts beans have unpleasant flavors as well. I don't see any harm in having both references listed, unless the devs specifically come out and say which they are referencing. --Shoptroll 07:31, 6 July 2006 (CDT)
If Rock pops is the reverse of Pop Rocks, and they are both Halloween treats, could this be a reference to "Tummy Yummies" - the dog treat loved by Clifford the Big Red Dog? --Maleldil 16:02, 31 March 2007 (CDT)
I'm not sure, but I think you're forgetting the "bean" part. Rock pops are the reverse of pop rocks, but these are "Yummy Tummy" Beans, and I don't think there are any "Tummy Yummies" Beans in Clifford. (Also, I don't think Jick watches Clifford) --CG1| | | 16:12, 31 March 2007 (CDT)
