Talk:Wheel in the Clouds in the Sky, Keep On Turning

From TheKolWiki

Yeah, on second thought I don't think that the name of this adventure is a reference to a lyric from the chorus of Creedence Clearwater Revival's song "Proud Mary," from the 1969 album Bayou Country: "Big wheel keep on turnin' / Proud Mary keep on burnin'" -- Baltar 22:06, 27 Jul 2005 (Central Daylight Time)

If someone would like to redo the image for the wheel, it is backwards!! To go from Garbage to Cat, you must go COUNTER-clockwise!--Zilly 15:04, 9 Aug 2005 (Central Daylight Time)

  • Actually. No. It's not wrong. It is just totally counter-intuitive. I asked five people how which way they would go to get Feed the Cat going JUST by the image, and they all said opposite the way it's showing. I think the image needs to be redone so it's not so confusing.--Zilly 15:08, 9 Aug 2005 (Central Daylight Time)

It really is backwards. If you switch the CCW and the CW, it's perfectly accurate. Before I caught on, I turned the wheel the wrong way a couple of times myself, because I went by the picture and not the text. I like the idea, but right now it's more misleading than it is helpful. I took the liberty of removing it until it can be redone.

  • It is NOT backwards. Look at the image (which isn't there anymore, great job), you'll see a little white oval with P.G. written onto it. This is what the arrows apply to.
  • Yes, it is counter-intuitive, and it might have cost you a lot of turns, but that's not a reason to remove the image. Seriously.
  • Okay, okay, I finally figured it out, I'm an idiot, sorry about that guys. Can I blame lack of sleep? :p -- weaselgirl
  • Here's hoping the table at the bottom helps people more.--digitrev 20:53, 9 Sep 2005 (Central Daylight Time)

Wheel image still wrong :)

Changing CCW and CW wouldn't work because the directions would be wrong. The correct way to fix it would be to switch Feed the Cat and Pay the Electric Bill. I'd edit the page if I knew how, but I dunno about this WiKi stuff. I can, however, edit the image so it's correct though, so here it is.

That is incorrect. Turning the wheel CCW from "Take out the Trash" should set it to "Feed the Cat." Turning the wheel in your diagram CCW does not do so. --Snickles 19:55, 14 Sep 2005 (Central Daylight Time)

...

I see the problem with this now. I fixed it so you move him (which I think people would get more in this image). Didn't notice the little text at the bottom of it. Oh well --Exd3ath 19:42, 16 Sep 2005 (Central Daylight Time)

  • for Giant_Castle_Wheel_White2.png, if you turned the top left (CCW), feed the cat would now be at the bottom, meaning the giant would be set on play the bills --JRSiebz 19:48, 16 Sep 2005 (Central Daylight Time)
  • Hmm I see what your saying. I'm looking at the image as placement if you turn a certain direction which it's very correct in that sense. If you change it the other way then people won't get it. Hmm... --Exd3ath 20:01, 16 Sep 2005 (Central Daylight Time)
  • Switch the arrows around, so they point towards the PG. That should make it clearer which task ends up at the top. Something like this (bad ASCII art alert):
        PG
 ->  .------.   <-
/ / \ T / \ \
CW / \ / \ CCW
   | B \/ C |
   | /\ |
    \ / \ /
     \/ D \/
      .----.

Turn the wheel CCW, and the Cat ends up at the top, CW and the Bills end up at the top. —Yendor 23:53, 18 Sep 2005 (Central Daylight Time)

  • .SWF Clarification

I've made a SWF that removes any and all doubt as to which direction turn does what, based on the mainpage table. Can I upload and display it here? -Deveiel 23:27, 13 July 2006 (CDT)

Stat Adventures

I just got 195 Mysticality substats for the Outage, Brief Candle adventure, instead of the 225-250 that the article says. Perhaps this should be investigated further?

  • I believe your stat gain is tied to your current level, with a ceiling at 250. Of course there's a RNG involved as well. --Gothhenge 08:52, 8 December 2005 (Central Standard Time)
  • So this thing actually gives you substat points whenever you turn the wheel? That could be a major exploit. --Jedibob5 05:59, 14 April 2006 (CDT)
    • No, it just changes the non-combat adventure which you occasionally get when adventuring in the castle to a different substat (or make the adventure never appear as the case may be). --SomeStranger (Talk | Contribs) 07:10, 14 April 2006 (CDT)
