Burning Soul - Post NS13
Post NS13, casting Wave of Sauce (at least as a Sauceror) gives 1 turn of the effect 'Burning Soul' (or a similarly named ice-related effect).
If the next action taken is to cast another sauce spell, the Burning Soul effect ends and a quantity of MP is restored that is dependent on the level of the secondary spell.
Unfortunately my main accidentally overdrank at the Tavern, so I can't c/p the effect texts, but the MP restored is, from memory, around 18 from a follow-up Saucestorm, 25 from a Wave of Sauce and 40 from a Saucegeyser.
I have also sometimes not received Burning Soul or the ice version while attacking, and experimentation indicates that the effect trigger may be based on doing a certain amount of damage in excess of Wave of Sauce's damage cap (which is approximately 77.)
If the Wave kills the monster, you don't get any MP back, and a second consecutive Wave will not give a new Burning Soul effect - you may be able to chain Wave - Storm - Wave - Storm for two MP regens, but I haven't fought anything that would survive that yet, so unable to confirm.
Wave of Sauce (like other sauce spells) now regenerates MP and HP when cast through a Saucesphere, regenerating approximately 24 HP and 5-7 MP.

- I'm casting wave followed by storm at level 10, and regularly getting about 24 mp back for the second cast. Right now I have a suspicion that the feedback effects are harmful if you are not playing as a sauceror. I hope somebody has Wave permed so they can try casting it as a non-sauceror and see if you still get burning/frozen soul, or if it hurts you. --Kazim 16:00, 7 July 2007 (CDT)
After a bit of testing, I've come to the conclusion that Wave of Sauce can take a maximum of +25 spell damage. Anything beyond this will cause you to hit the "bonus spell damage" cap, not dealing any extra damage, but will give you the Burning Soul / Soul Freeze effect. Higher Mysticality increases the damage the spell does beyond this, and does not help one reach the cap (and thus obtain the effect). Everything I have seen so far points to this conclusion, but since I do not have access to proper testing equipment while in hardcore, could someone confirm this for me? --SketchySolid 14:25, 15 July 2007 (CDT)
