Talk:The Naughty Sorceress (2)

From TheKolWiki

As for the picture/description referencing a beholder from DnD, I don't really see it. Looks/sounds more like something out of a Lovecraft story (Yog-Sothoth, anyone?). Did beholders even have tentacles? I thought they were eyestalks, and the description doesn't even mention eyes. --cor nocae 15:31, 6 September 2006 (CDT)

  • Agreed - D&D Beholders have one central eye, one mouth, and a bunch of eye stalks (usually 10) - no tentacles. Perhaps the repeated usage of the word "behold" in the encounter text is what caused this assumption. --Quietust 15:33, 6 September 2006 (CDT)
    • I've always thought Gibbering Mouther when I saw this, myself. But only vaguely, since those don't have tentacles either. --Idran 07:02, 9 November 2006 (CST)
  • It's not Yog-Sothoth, it's Shub-Niggurath. Yog-Sothoth is described as a conglomeration of glowing bubbles. Shub-Niggurath was described by Lovecraft as an evil cloud-like being, like the second form. However: the third part of the NS fight referes to a dreaded elder god from outside of time and space, Yog-Sothoth. --Yuumi 16:06, 6 September 2006 (CDT)
  • One other slight possibility to this appearance (though I think the Shub-Niggurath point holds up better) is the Umgah from the Star Control games, albeit a meaner, nastier looking version. Or perhaps this could have been used simply as an initial reference. --Sparksol 06:14, 9 November 2006 (CST)
  • I think when the Naughty Sorceress wraps herself up, bulges and gets larger it makes her stronger, not just remove negative effects. I can't hit her anymore after she does that and I could fine before. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Thagorn (talkcontribs) on 10:53, 11 September 2008
