This statement is false: "A tattoo can be displayed to others through on your character profile and has no in-game effect" For example the martini tattoo causes the evil olive to not attack you. Perhaps there are effects for the other tattoos? --Lemon-claw 16:50, 10 April 2009 (UTC)

  • Except that's been disproven: "There was a rumor that the Evil Olive cannot hit you if you have the martini tattoo, but this has been disproven." Tattoos don't have any effect beyond PVP. --TechSmurf 17:23, 10 April 2009 (UTC)

Should the information for when you get each tattoo be listed here? I just put on my Lumberjack suit for the first time: "Ah, the stoic stoicity of our stoic neighbors to the north. I shall paint one of their most enduring symbols. Never mind that they only really have one enduring symbol." Here's another: "The Gnauga -- the toughest of creatures. I will paint a portrait that shows the softness hidden behind the tough exterior." --Barnaby36

Shouldn't tattoo effects be listed? Like the martini has done.

  • I think all of the other ones do nothing but look pretty. And sign your posts. It's the second button form the right on the above edit toolbar. --JRSiebz 20:25, 10 Sep 2005 (Central Daylight Time)
  • Just for those who've noticed the change on this page: I gave the value of getting the martini tattoo to the description because it was Jick who said, on-air, that the chance was one in four. That script hath been writ by "Slyhand" Jick. The entire game hath been writ by Jick. So it has been said. So it will be. And it was good. • if I get the SUPER sparkling tattoo while I don't have the same tattoo sparkling or regular, do I get them?--Dorham 05:44, 10 December 2005 (Central Standard Time)
  • Answering Dorham's question - Yes. Getting an Oxycore (SUPER sparkling) tattoo will also get you a Hardcore (Sparkling) and a Regular (Non Sparking) Tattoo, if you don't already have these. - Criswell
    • When you complete an hardcore oxygenarian ascension, you receive only the super sparkling tattoo for that class. I currently have normal and super DB tattoos, but not the normal-sparking, non-oxy hardcore one. You receive the normal tattoo for your class at the start of your ascension, so it is impossible to achieve a super-sparkling tattoo for a class without already having the normal tattoo for that class.--Volante 01:38, 5 September 2006 (CDT)

Tattoo Order Suggestion

I'd like to suggest that the Outfit Tattoos be listed in the order that they appear on your Tattoo menu instead of alphabetically. The Filthy Hippy Tattoo would follow the Knob Goblin Harem Girl Tattoo in this case. - Criswell

Martini tattoo

I'm fairly certain that the martini tattoo does not, in fact, prevent Evil Olives from biting you. A character that has not yet unlocked the martini tattoo can still get the "It tries to bite you with tiny olive-y teeth, but backs off when it sees your martini tattoo" message. I think that's just the normal miss message. --Baltar 19:57, 17 Sep 2005 (Central Daylight Time)

  • Its completely a rumor. -Carados 11:25, 1 Oct 2005 (MDT)
  • I'm not sure. Im 100% certain that I've had a message along the lines of "the olive tries to bite you, but see's your martini tattoo and backs off". (i wasnt actually wearing the tattoo at the time). Whether this is a standard miss message, or has since been removed from the game Im not sure, but I do remember getting it. Actually, checking the wiki, its in there as well. Does it maybe just cause a slightly higher miss rate? -- Eugene
    • It gives that message for every tattoo. -Carados 14:17, 29 Oct 2005 (MDT)

Glad Bag Glad Rags

The new tattoo has to be added to this page of the Glad Bag Glad Rags outfit.

--WelcomeToEarth 18:15, 28 July 2006 (CDT)

Whoops, it seemed to have just appeared.

Grass Guise Tattoo

When viewing this page (Tattoo, with Firefox 1.5.0.5), the image for the Grass Guise tattoo (eggtat.gif) doesn't appear. The image definitely exists on the wiki. Anyone else with this problem? --Aemeth 20:18, 1 August 2006 (CDT)

  • Don't worry, found out it's a problem with Adblock. --Aemeth 20:20, 1 August 2006 (CDT)

New Tatoo

Check the profile of the player 'Picklish', ID# 841340. There seems to be another custom tattoo.--Shadowhntr7 19:21, 30 August 2006 (CDT)

Clown Tattoo

There is now a clown tattoo, even though it isn't an official outfit (the items don't state that they're part of an outfit). The pretentious artist says "Nothing embodies the sheer terror and unpleasantness of childhood so much as the Clown. The Everyman shall see this painting and weep!" I was wearing the clown pants, foolscap hat, bowtie, shoes and nose at the time.--Temporary man 16:43, 14 January 2007 (CST)

Furthermore, wearing all of these parts changes your avatar to "clowncostume.gif".

  • It doesn't seem to work anymore. I was wearing the Terrifying Clown Suit, and the pretentious artist said that my clothing was bland.--Necco 09:03, 13 December 2007 (CST)
  • It works now. Jick even added it in the drop-down as an outfit now. --Murixbob 23:58, 20 January 2008 (CST)

Another new tattoo

Look at the profile of JayRandom. He's got a meat tattoo. where's it come from? What is it? --Monsieur 16:52, 14 August 2007 (CDT) I know not.

  • Its from the bounty hunter rig. --Chunky_boo 17:01, 14 August 2007 (CDT)
  • Not knowing how to add it, might someone more knowledgeable be able to update this page? Monsieur 06:01, 20 August 2007 (CDT)

New Salad Tattoo

Take a look at KaNasty -- he's one of my clannies and got a new salad tattoo I can't find mentioned anywhere else. They think they got it from eating 5 salads, but they're not sure of the exact number required. Probably along the lines of the Martini tattoo? I'd add the picture, but I'm not entirely certain how to do it.--Ketaped 18:55, 2 April 2008 (CDT)

  • One of my multis got the tattoo today. It was either the 5th or the 6th salad. I went to check but the delicious salad isn't coming up on my favorite foods list. The multi is duckyguy2 and the player id is 1338049. I have the tattoo on right now. --Duckyguy 17:10, 2 April 2008 (PST)
    • A pox upon them, then. I only got one on my main for DC purposes and they can't be traded for. Only one of my multis has more than 5. I can test this with him after rollover. --Flargen 19:16, 2 April 2008 (CDT)
      • Upon further inspection, that multi only has 4. Maybe he'll get lucky if it's just a random chance. --Flargen 19:23, 2 April 2008 (CDT)
  • I got the tattoo on my multi Jester1236 after eating 7 salads. They are also now tradable. --Poolace 19:25, 2 April 2008 (CDT)

My main (drunken_irishman) also has the tattoo. Gotten after eating about my 15th or so salad. --Drunken irishman 23:31, 2 April 2008 (CDT)

You must have had bad luck to compensate for my good luck. My main got it on his first salad. --Flargen 23:50, 2 April 2008 (CDT)
My multi also got hers on the first salad.--Jossie 16:16, 3 April 2008 (CDT)
One Salad....one tattoo. *evil grin* --Ashallond 21:13, 3 April 2008 (CDT)

Hobo Outfits

I count six hobo outfits:

  1. Dire Drifter Duds (Turtle Tamer)

Image spohobotat.gif

  1. Hodgman's Regal Frippery (classless)
  2. Hyperborean Hobo Habiliments (Seal Clubber)
  3. Pyretic Panhandler Paraphernalia (Sauceror)

Image hothobotat.gif

  1. Tawdry Tramp Togs (Disco Bandit)
  2. Vile Vagrant Vestments (Pastamancer)

Is there an Accordion Thief one? Any others? These need to go into the page, but that table for outfits is a bit ugly to edit. And some of them are still unknown tattoos. --Club (#66669) (Talk) 17:21, 24 June 2008 (CDT)

  • I believe ATs just get skills. --Flargen 17:23, 24 June 2008 (CDT)

Is there a reason the Hodgman's Regal Frippery tattoo (and a couple others), are not in alphabetical order. I always assumed that was the order this list was sorted in. However, there may be some other reasoning that I'm just not aware of. --Gleezus 18:32, 11 October 2008 (UTC)

The Tattoo Count

The Mutant Couture tattoo has been added in, but the number of tattoos hasn't been updated, it still says there are 95 tattoos total and 46 tatoos from outfits. I'd fix it myself, but I don't want to risk doing anything stupid.--Lord Sho 18:41, 19 December 2008 (UTC)

Currently it says there are 133 regular tattoos. Not counting the one for the Ghost of the English Language, there seem to only be 132 regular tattoos (5 per row and 2 on the last row). The only ones I don't have that I know of are the Blasphemous Bedazzlement and the Alice's Army Foil Tattoo. --Glukthar 00:54, 9 September 2011 (CEST)

  • 6 class tattoos + 5x15+2 outfit + 24+12+3 ascension + 9 misc + 2 event = 133. --Fig bucket 01:35, 9 September 2011 (CEST)
That section shows 77 outfit tattoos, 15 rows of 5, plus two more.
  • 6 class tattoos, 2x3 = 6 are shown
  • 77 outfitt tattoos, 15x5 + 2 = 77 are shown
  • 39 ascension tattoos, 3x4 + 3x4 + 2x3 + 2x3 + 3 = 39 are shown
  • 9 miscellaneous tattoos, 9 are shown
  • 2 event tattoos, 2 are shown
6+77+39+9+2 = 133

Win Tattoo

Wintat.gif This was given to some people. Something to do with "winning at con" according to the radio show. Anyone know the details? --Melon 16:39, 10 February 2009 (UTC)

Pigiron Tattoo

The link for the pigiron tattoo will need to be updated once the Pigiron_Tattoo page is created. It currently links to the outfit instead of the "tattoo discovery" page. The counter has been incremented for this tattoo. Psy 16:53, 12 June 2009 (UTC)

Event Tattoos

I don't understand why this section needs to exist. It currently only lists one tattoo, it's not special in any way (Some might say it is since it's now unobtainable, but this is false. Jick and Skullhead said in the thread regarding SSPD XXIX that it would be available again and again), and there's no reason for it to have its own section. I could understand if people felt that the miscellaneous tattoo section was getting cluttered, since there are getting to be more and more of them, but if any new section should be made, it should be tattoos from usable items, since that has more tattoos (3) than any other method in the miscellaneous section (with 2 for consumption, 1 for events, 1 for a quest, and 1 for...whatever hobopolis would be classified as) Better yet, make a generic 'obtained from non-outfit items' category to house 5 of them. I dunno, I just feel like the event tattoos section is irrelevant for now. If, in the future, more tattoos come from holidays and world events, maybe I'd change my mind, but for now it feels kind of...pointless. It's not bothering me enough to change it, but I'd appreciate knowing the justification. Matt is me 03:57, 13 January 2011 (UTC)

  • i added it for exactly the reason you mention: the "1" on the image name suggests there may be more. premature, perhaps, but it is also the only one in its class, since it doesn't really fit into any of the other categories. --Evilkolbot 21:02, 13 January 2011 (UTC)

Avatar of Boris

Does this go in the "class tattoos" section? The filename references "class11.gif" and you actually are a separate class. --Itsatrap 07:14, 15 February 2012 (CET)

Phrasing

Under Class Tattoo:

You get these tattoos for choosing to be one of the following classes. In your first (newbie) lifetime, you get the tattoo automatically; in subsequent lifetimes, you get the tattoo when opening the letter from King Ralph XI

Surely you get one class tattoo only? Except if there's a HC tattoo, then you get it with the sack (as you only get it when the run is "won"). Since HC tattoos are further down below under "Ascension Tattoos", should it just says something like:

You get these tattoos for choosing to be one of the following classes, you get them at the start of the run.

And under "Ascension Tattoos":

You get these tattoos after ascending and opening the letter from King Ralph XI.
