Talk:Pair of Ragged Claws

From TheKolWiki

Not sure where to put this yet, but it was tested, and it cannot breath underwater. --Camperdave 10:59, 8 December 2008 (UTC)

Doesn't look like it's part crab then does it? Unless damage is capped at 10. --JohnDoe244 01:08, 10 December 2008 (UTC)

Haven't had much opportunity to test it just yet, but so far it looks like the damage ranges from 1 to floor(weight/2) for both values, but (unlike the crab, or goat) the values are completely independent of each other. A 30 pound pair of claws could do +1(+15) damage with an attack, for example. I haven't tried spading its apparent barnacle abilities yet. Too much power levelling to do to spend much time spading it out. --Flargen 07:22, 10 December 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, that damage matches what I've seen. Unlike the crab, it only has one set of attacks. Also, unlike the crab, it doesn't attack every round... more like 50%, or that may vary by weight. --Prestige 08:03, 10 December 2008 (UTC)

reference? --Wou 15:43, 10 December 2008 (UTC)

Well, this monster is a Little Shop of Horrors reference. The pair of ragged claws however is not a plant with a big mouth, so any resemblance is likely coincidental. --Prestige 10:38, 11 December 2008 (UTC)
The tentacle face-latching is perhaps a reference to the face-huggers, of alien fame? Monsieur 00:04, 12 December 2008 (UTC)

Has anyone seen it latch on with tentacles any time other than the beginning of the fight, when you get the jump? And any tests on what it does? I know people are saying Barrnacle, but is it full-weight or what? The tentacles sound more potato-like, but I've never seen it actually block an attack. --Phantomreader42 03:27, 13 December 2008 (UTC)

I just did some testing on activity rate. At 2 lbs, attacked 44/80 rounds. At 11 lbs, attacked 36/80 rounds. At 28-29 lbs, attacked 42/83 rounds. Looks like a pretty flat 50%. Regarding the barrrnacle thing... I have a very small sample size, but it did not suck at low weights, but sucked almost every fight at high weights. This is consistent with a barrrnacle. --Prestige 12:20, 13 December 2008 (UTC)
  • Yeah, I also noticed increased barrrnacle activity at higher weights; could be RNG or me not paying attention earlier, but once it got to above 20 lbs, it seems to have started latching on to enemies much more frequently, almost 100% of the time.--Knobula 18:07, 13 December 2008 (UTC).

Just thought about it dealing "1(+3)" damage , while the "+3" is actually bold, like it is some kind of elemental damage. Or am I just making a fool of myself? - Lord Vetinari 16:17, 15 December 2008 (UTC)

  • Black bold bonus damage is standard for Double Fisted Skull Smashing, so it's more like the critter is dual-wielding.--Phantomreader42 04:18, 17 December 2008 (UTC)

Frequency/Deleveling Info

I tested the ragged claws using a Wormwood trick...since ML their maxes at 125, I can compare how much I hit barehanded to how much I hit when the claws act. The amount was 9 levels at 19 weight, 12 at 25, and 16 at 32.

As far as frequency goes, I'm still testing that, but this is what I have so far:

  • Pound 6: Rate: 2/4 (50.00%)
  • Pound 7: Rate: 1/5 (20.00%)
  • Pound 8: Rate: 3/7 (42.86%)
  • Pound 9: Rate: 3/10 (30.00%)
  • Pound 10: Rate: 7/12 (58.33%)
  • Pound 11: Rate: 7/13 (53.85%)
  • Pound 12: Rate: 7/15 (46.67%)
  • Pound 13: Rate: 10/17 (58.82%)
  • Pound 14: Rate: 15/20 (75.00%)
  • Pound 15: Rate: 16/21 (76.19%)
  • Pound 16: Rate: 18/23 (78.26%)
  • Pound 17: Rate: 22/26 (84.62%)
  • Pound 18: Rate: 21/27 (77.78%)
  • Pound 19: Rate: 20/22 (90.91%)

This doesn't different greatly from the Barrrnacle frequency of 4.5*weight, but still needs some further study. --Foggy 23:35, 16 March 2009 (UTC)
