actually, that's not true, I've gotten the adventure again:

You open the chest. There's all kinds of stuff inside it:

You acquire an item: effervescent potion 

You acquire an item: fizzy potion 

You acquire an item: bubbly potion 

You acquire an item: murky potion 

You acquire an item: swirly potion 

You acquire an item: milky potion 

You acquire an item: milky potion 

You acquire an item: bubbly potion 

You acquire an item: swirly potion 

You acquire an item: milky potion 

You acquire an item: ring of gain strength 

I've been investigating the frequency of this adventure, and what happens if you choose different options. It's already been established that if you choose the lamp, you can get the adventure again, but if you choose the wand, it looks like you can't. On my first multi, I

• got the adventure within 10 turns, chose the mimic
• adventured for a further 70 turns with the wand in my inventory, didn't get the store adventure again
• exploded the wand
• adventured for a further 400 turns without the wand, still no sign of the store

On my second multi, I

• got the store on my first turn, chose the lamp
• got the store again 25 turns later, fought the mimic and (deliberately) lost
• spent a further 150 adventures, no sign of the store.

So it seems fairly safe to say that once you get a wand, you don't get to see the store again. I'm curious to know whether losing to the mimic also means you don't get to see the store again, because unlikely it may be, but it still seems unfair that a character unfortunate enough to lose, doesn't get another chance that ascension (I'm also assuming that you get another shot at a wand next ascension. If this isn't the case, I think a lot of people are going to be very annoyed!)

I think I remember once that on a past ascension, I lost to the mimic and got the store adventure later. I may be wrong, though. Ambifortunately, this just happened to me, so I have an opportunity to test this. I'm also curious about what happens if you don't have enough meat on you for the cloak. Does the store fail to show up? Given the low frequency of the adventure as it is, this will take a while to prove/disprove. --Freyagirl 16:17, 22 Aug 2005 (Central Daylight Time)

For the sake of experimentation, I kept buying magic lamps. Got three in quick succession -- in fact, after I bought the second I got the store again on my very next adventure. Store turned up again about 50 adventures later. -- Baltar 23:14, 22 Aug 2005 (Central Daylight Time)

As it turns out, the shop does show up if you don't have enough meat for the cloak. And also as it turns out, there's special text for trying to buy it. And still also as it turns out, I've updated the article accordingly. :-) -- CaptainSpam 01:42, 4 December 2005 (Central Standard Time)

The good news is that since its a noncombat adventure you can hit up your inventory/town etc and sell off stuff to get your finances in order then come right back to it. At least for now, who knows they might change the behavior of non-combat adventures again sometime in the future. --Veistran 11:42, 6 February 2006 (Central Standard Time)

What level is the mimic? I was on MCD+2, with 44 moxie and 42 muscle, and I couldn't even hit it once, but it hit me about 80% of the time. --Hatfinch 03:10, 9 May 2006 (CDT)
