Talk:Omphaloskepsis

From TheKolWiki

From what I can tell so far, it prevents them from hitting you with anything that's not a critical. --CrankyOne 11:04, 1 September 2007 (CDT)

The after-combat effect has seemed to fire about 1/3 of the time for me, and the MP range has been 3-4. --Zelandoni 18:03, 1 September 2007 (CDT)

Spading thread on the forums said that this appeared to be 20% meat, 20% items, 3 stats, or 3-4 MP. Maybe this should be added to this page? --Wildfire393 02:43, 3 September 2007 (CDT)

I added this, with the confirmation tag. At least it will give someone something to watch for >.> --Skyl3lazer 15:16, 4 September 2007 (CDT)

I haven't spaded the item drop part yet, but I can confirm that it gives +20% meat, or +3 stats, or 3-5MP.--QuantumNightmare 23:08, 10 September 2007 (CDT)

This is getting stupidly frustrating. The quote about there being an art, or rather a knack to flying is from "Life, the Universe, and Everything." I'm REALLY not seeing how we can't seem to get this straight. Stating that it's from The Guide itself is also acceptable. But how the hell are we getting it from THE LONG DARK TEA-TIME OF THE SOUL? We really have to stop staring at our digital watches and thinking how neat an idea they are and get this zarking reference right!--MaskedLihc 01:19, 11 September 2007 (CDT)

Just a note: the effect that gets you outof reach from opponent actually works on the shadow and shadow does no damage that round. Maybe it's worth mentioning, maybe it isn't. --MoreCurious 05:40, 24 September 2007 (CDT)

Noticed new end-of-combat messages today. The pyramid no longer "dissapates", which makes sense now that it is an intrinsic effect. I haven't happened to use the naval ring in combat since they made this intrinsic, so I don't know if the messages were changed then as well, or more recently.--Terion 02:45, 6 October 2007 (CDT)

  • Oh, an interesting side note: I was earning my lucre in the HitS when I noticed the new messages, and I never saw the new +meat message there; I had to switch to the Castle, where I quickly got the +meat message a few turns later. Apparently, the +meat option either a) doesn't trigger against monsters without meat drops (which might theoretically increase the chance of the other options), or b) triggers but is not displayed because it is linked to the report of the meat you gain (which doesn't show with non-meat monsters.)--Terion 02:50, 6 October 2007 (CDT)
    • And a note to the note: The +item message does show up for monsters with no item drops (I noticed it while fighting The Ghost of Fernswarthy's n great-grandfather), so it is unlike the +meat message.--Terion 04:35, 6 October 2007 (CDT)

with gremlins being called always-hit. does this hold true while having this effect?--Myst44 09:05, 20 September 2007 (CDT)

I can confirm that Omphaloskepsis can let you "dodge" gremlins' attacks. --Deetviper 18:13, 2 October 2007 (CDT)

it also allows you to dodge you're shadows attacksVazhkatsi 11:54, 8 October 2007 (CDT)

Spading Spading Spading

Naked, familiarless, relevant effect-less, beanbat spading. All numbers are only counting the activation of the respective ability:

Triggers 85% of the time. I'd assume all the actions are equally likely to occur, but I'll get more data first. --TechSmurf 21:12, 24 October 2007 (CDT)

Ended up with a consistent range of 10-20.

Dodging

Wearing as much DR as I could get, going against gremlins.

...Seems pretty conclusive.

Running

From what I've heard, the chance of running without turn cost decreases with each run. Resets at rollover.

Definitely a decrease in frequency of free runs. --TechSmurf 21:12, 24 October 2007 (CDT)

  • This has been done already. 100% chance for the first 3. Fourth has a 90% chance, 5th has an 80% chance... down to a minimum of a 20% chance no matter how many turns you've spent.--QuantumNightmare 21:51, 24 October 2007 (CDT)
    • Aaah. Where is that, anyway? I didn't see anything on the HCO or AFH forums. --TechSmurf 21:57, 24 October 2007 (CDT)
      • AFH doesn't post all the spading we do in public (although you'll find a considerable amount of it). When I saw you starting to work on this, I decided I might as well make the information public and save you the work, instead of letting you re-invent the wheel. And nice work with your spading on the wiki, you might want to register for the AFH forums and bounce any future spading ideas you have off of us.--QuantumNightmare 22:24, 24 October 2007 (CDT)
