Talk:Meatsink

(ahem) in this case, the value of meat being inflated is what's going on: meat is more rare after a meatsink, meaning that it's more valuable due to slightly increased rarity and therefore on better footing when trading meat for items or services.--Yiab 14:40, 3 Jun 2005 (Central Daylight Time)
"Meatsinks have been slowly but surely inflating the value of meat."
Slightly confusing because in economics, inflation is when currency becomes worth less.
With regards to the MMG, the house takes .1% of each player's bet that goes through the game. PLEASE do not change it to .2% again. This explanation should be sufficient to explain why:
- When Person A puts a bet in for 1,000, the house automatically takes 1 meat off the bet for itself (.1%).
Person B bets against Person A for 1,000 and the house takes its 1 meat from Person B (.1%).
While this seems to a winner to be a tax of .2%, the tax is actually .1% for each player.

Also, since many of our users are not American, 300 billion doesn't translate accurately for everyone. In the US, a billion is 10^9 (one thousand million). In the UK, a billion is 10^12 (one million million). I see no easy way to get around it without writing it out in an ugly, long string of numbers. -Zilly 22:49, 9 December 2005 (Central Standard Time)
I would just like to bring up that buying skills through multiple ascensions seems to be a fairly major, if not deliberate, meatsink. I mean, buying however many skills, and keeping only one, and then buying them again... this removes quite a bit of liquid meat from the kingdom, and I don't believe this should be discounted.

Some other meatsinks
- Clan advertising
- Clan purchases (of buffs)
- NPC Stores: Whenever you buy something from an NPC store, that meat is gone. You can autosell the item, yes, but generally only for 1/2 of the purchase price.
- Scams? This one is questionable and surely not intentional, but scammers often dupe players into giving them substantial amounts of meat. When scammers are caught, they are banned and the users do not get the meat back. Thus, the meat leaves the economy as the account where it is stored is banned and eventually deleted.
If no one objects, I'll incorporate these into the article soon.
Many clan things yes, but if you have a large enough clan, the buffs are worth it for farming etc. And don't forget to sign your posts! Nagyss 23:49, 9 October 2007 (CDT)
Autosell as item sink?
The autosell function sinks a massive number of items, especially items with high drop rates in low-level areas. However, autosell can be used to sink almost any item, and is used more frequently when a player is in HC, etc and cannot use the mall, flea market, or trade functions to obtain meat in exchange for items. --Senorita Hachoo 18:43, 12 November 2007 (CST)
