Crimbo reindeer vs. skeletal

The tiny plastic skeletal reindeer is much cheaper than the tiny plastic Crimbo reindeer in the mall, so the skeletal one should be in the table instead, right? (Sorry for forgetting to sign.) --Tularion 08:55, 11 February 2007 (CST)

New Crimbo Tiny Plastics

With the new tiny plastic, the normal player can have either the crimbo reindeer or the skeletal reindeer or the bitchin' meatcar or the dead guy's watch. I'm not sure how to do this.

Oh, my. There are several things wrong with this page. I may update it later if I have more time, but until then, I'll just point out what's wrong.
- Deity and Villa should be exactly the same, because no custom items give adventures.
- Why would an Ascender have a time helmet, but not any other time equipment? I'd nix it. Modern-day ascenders will probably not have it, unless they specifically tried to earn it. If it must stay, then add the rest, too.
- Shouldn't an Ascender have a solitaire? I could maybe understand not having a pocketwatch, but most people that do a single HC non-Oxy run will have a solitaire.
- Every player in the Kingdom and their mothers have access to a Calendar. Move to Apathetic Lizardman.

Made most of the changes I listed. A few more notes:
- "Villa" has roughly 10 million to spend (I checked the Dressing for Success page before edited, but after talking), so I reallocated the INW to a single time sword, and added a plexi pocketwatch. I didn't add a second sword, becuase I figured that a "Villa" level player maay not have the moeny to get a second time sword, even if DFSS is permed.
- It's entirely possible for any normaly player to get a TPBMC. I took the precedent of the Maximizing Your Meat Drops page, which gives the "Normal" player TPH's.
- I gave "Normal" a pagoda. Most new players try to complete every quest, and end up with a pagoda before ascending.

  • Hardcore would only get access to a Clockwork Maid if playing under a Moxie sign, which may not always be desirable/possible. Likewise, a hardcore player technically can use a solitaire or pocketwatch, though only if their last run was a HC[O] Pastamancer. --Quietust 12:03, 9 August 2006 (CDT)

I more or less left "Hardcore" alone (because it isn't on the Dressing for Success page, mostly). You do have a point, though. I think the plexi watch should be added, assuming that the "Hardcore" section represents the theoretical maximum. The clockwork maid and pagoda may be horribly impractical to farm for in HC (unless you're planning to go for some of the Hardcore trophies, maybe), but they're still a part of the theoretical maximum. --DestroyerBEACON 12:12, 9 August 2006 (CDT)

"Hardcore" isn't part of Dressing for Success and will therefore be deleted. It's really a pretty ridiculous concept - it's just not the sort of thing hardcore players do. Can you imagine eating endless Lucky Surprise Eggs until just waiting for the bitchin' meatcar to drop? There isn't yet a methodology for campground gear, the Calendar or familiars, because Rollover Adventures wasn't included in the original scope of the project, but the pagoda and the Calendar of Loathing look good. On the Wild Hare, a couple of points. First, the total doesn't include any bonus adventures from the Hare (bonus adventures equals roughly 20 (250 adv. / 12)). Secondly, I'm not sure that the Hare should be included at all. Most players adventure for stats, meat or items, and the Hare is suboptimal for all three. I'll leave the Hare as-is for the moment. Finally, for equipment valuation reasons, a number of changes need to be made. The equipment allowance refers to "the maximum value of a single piece of equipment", not your entire equipment budget. Changes are: Villa - add second time sword, replace tiny plastic bitchin' meatcar with imitation nice watch. Normal - add tiny plastic Crimbo reindeer, replace meat maid with clockwork maid.   • Yeah, I officially apologize to anyone that thinks my idea for hardcore was stupid. It is a little annoying that some things can be so cheap in the mall, but very difficult to acheive in hardcore. Sword of Prepositions

If you duel-wield sword of prepositions (SP), you get +10 adv. Two time swords give you +6, +3 for having the time trappings outfit, for a total of +9. The SP should replace time swords as the weapon for Villa and KoL Deity. --Venturboy 21:45, 16 August 2006 (CDT)

Counterclockwise Watch

  • It's actually (according to my knowledge) unknown weather or not it stacks with the imitations nice watch. I'm under the impression that it doesn't, since I know it's been tested with the dead guy's watch and doesn't stack. Actually, I just rechecked the forum post for the item's appearance and noticed that Jick mentioned that it does fall under the "watch rule". Meat Maids

Why is the clockwork maid listed under the 'Normal' player category? it's from the gnomad camp, an ascension area. It'd be fair to assume a normal player might have a meat maid, but not a clockwork one. anyone agree/disagree? Monsieur 08:26, 13 October 2007 (CDT)

Fancy Chocolate etc.

Apologies, bad wording and my own confusion don't help! I was thinking of the 'threoretical max' formula in the notes at the bottom, where the adventurer eats wedges of grey cheese, and drinks grimacite bock: that adventurer isn't held back by any budget considerations. I do completely concede I'm slightly off-topic, however that theoretical max listed, it can be topped, and thus needs minor modification IMHO, however how many of each they would scoff is an open question to me. --KidOblivious

  • Well, if that's the case, 9 advs from chocs and 9 advs from caspule chocs would be 18 more adventures, which would raise the total of adventures obtained by the hare to 106 and a 1/3. So really, the optimal way of going about that would be to eat 1 choc and 1 capsule choc for 10 advs, which gives you 1272. *shrugs* Someone could add it, but it feels rather trivial to me.--MaskedLihc 10:07, 21 December 2007 (CST)

    • Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that there's an error in the calculation. To have Stomach of Steel aren't you supposed to be a Teetotaler? So that negates in the calculation all the adventures that come from the booze.--Tyramon 11:30, 2 September 2008 (CDT)
    • You're wrong (j/k), the stomach of steel stays with you once you beat the NS which one would assume to have done at level 15 (the level some of the items require). Ascenders real value

Shouldnt ascenders get access to Plexiglass pocketwatch and Stainless steel solitaire at the same time? Also, they are allowed to have Moxie moon signed or BM runs, or have permed Torso Awaregness, right? So, the total extra adventures for Ascenders should be +34 not +29.

Also in the Notes part, Vivala mask article says that you can get only 10 adventures bonus per day, not 15. -- regelus|Talk 13:36, 19 April 2008 (CDT)

General Sage's Club Jacket

I'm thinking of moving the General Sage's Lonely Diamonds Club Jacket to Ascender from Villa. I'm sure someone who ascended a couple of times could find one, and they're not that expensive in the mall.--JohnAnon 17:42, 23 July 2008 (CDT)

Clans

How come Apathetic Lizardmen can't be in a clan with good stuff? It's fairly simple to apply to a clan. Also, Pagodas are easy to obtain. You only need to borrow a few items once you finish the Lv6 quest. I managed to get one when I was an Apathetic Lizardman.--Larryboy 18:42, 13 October 2008 (UTC)

Outfit

The Time Trappings are listed in the table as providing 3 adventures, but on the Time Trappings page the adventures granted are listed as 12 for the whole outfit. Don't know if this was an oversight, or I'm just reading it wrong.--Ravenous Muffin 04:00, 29 December 2008 (UTC)

I may be wrong, but I get the impression that the adventures are listed under each item for the outfit, and then the outfit adds 3 more when the entire kit is worn. -- sulfur 04:28, 29 December 2008 (UTC)

Hatrack w/ time helmet?

The Hatrack doesn't actually convert the familiar into a bonus equipment slot. It changes the Hatrack's function.--Toffile 03:10, 27 January 2009 (UTC)

Holiday

On Labór Day you can start with 210 adventures after rollover. The maximum needs to be recalculated, as I don't know what these extra 10 adventures imply with Wild Hare, etc. --Jtn2002 23:06, 29 January 2009 (UTC)

  • Doesn't work, in principle. Feast of Boris gives far more than 10 adventures, and it doesn't usually trigger on actual Thanksgiving, and hence cannot coincide with Labór Day. Even if it did, by my calculations, it would be year 2261 before Labór Day and FoB fell on the same day. I doubt very many of us will be around to capitalise on that opportunity. --BagatelleT/C 00:17, 30 January 2009 (UTC)

  • It's actually pretty simple and impossible to abuse. After rollover is finished the total adventures for the day are rounded down to 200. Then Labor Day begins and +10 adventures are added. There's no synergy with the Wild Hare or Feast of Boris at all. --Bale 23:32, 30 January 2009 (UTC)

I no way relates to these two holidays, but I didn't want to create a new section: Uncle Hobo's Epic beard (as well as his other items for their respective maximizing pages) will likely become unobtainable and untradeable. Considering that these pages only list things that a player can actually get (we don't have a color for can no longer be traded or obtained) we should probably take them off the page (though it can wait till its confirmed that new players will stand no chance of getting them).   • There are people who have set up clans where UH is defeated, but gear has not been distributed. They will then sell those items after the content has disappeared for profits.   • Maybe we just need a new tag, because there just happen to be limited time, non-tradable items. Maybe non-tradable limited time content (maybe orange would be a nice color). These pages already list items that are pretty much unobtainable: While you sure could just go and buy a rainbow-pearl-item or some old Grimacite-items from the mall, the majority of players couldn't afford a time helmet. But I'm pretty optimistic that most of the active players own at least one of Uncle Hobo's outfit-pieces, to zap it into a beard. This is (of course) all from my maybe limited point of view. Chocolates

The Halloween legendary nemesis outfit chocolate starting weapon candy adds up to 6 adventures and should be added - AvangionQ / April 14th, 2010

No, because it uses the same counter as the fancy chocolates (right? I'm not totally screwing this up, am I?) so you can replace the last chocolate with a weapon chocolate, but other than that they aren't helpful for the theoretical maximum. --NeoTrup 00:05, 22 December 2010 (UTC)

Canticle of Carboloading

  • I'm very sorry, I thought it was an oversight and you thought the paperclips are untradable, too. I feel like it should be marked as Other limited time content because players who created an account after the event still can get their hands on one of these just by spending meat - unlike items like the rusty chain necklace for which you have to actually do a quest (and maybe an ascension) and can't get it by just using the mall. --Yatsufusa 03:11, 18 January 2011 (UTC)

      • I think we can agree on the following:
- It is still possible for new players to get their hands on the paperclip pants.
- Once you've actually got the pants, you can't sell them.
- It is not longer possible to get the pants by the way they were originally brought into the game but only by buying the parts from players.
- The pants were brought into the game by a unique event.
In my mindset the pants are, by all practical means, Tradable, but no longer obtainable - because one can get them from other players, even if the supplies are finite. But I also think you are right too, because the actual pants are, without any doubt, Untradable, but still obtainable - not by its original method, but still obtainable. After I understood your point of view I think both colors (90EEEE & BBFFBB) would be right. I like this discussion, and have this to say about it: Items that are untradable in their desired forms, but CAN be obtained through crafting or other means with items that ARE tradable (paperclip pants being a prime example) should still be listed as obtainable, since they technically still are. On the other hand, items like the yield shield, which are neither tradable nor obtainable any longer, deserve the BBFFBB color. --Wrldwzrd89 01:58, 19 January 2011 (UTC)

Updating This Page

This page is notably out of date, and what I mean by that is: old grimacite equipment. That is, any grimacite equipment that does not have "depleted" in its name and is not Smith'd. It's currently marked as rare, but in reality, it's not obtainable anymore, only tradeable, right? The pages for the equipment themselves also do NOT list the raffle house as an old/obsolete method of obtaining them, but I'll leave that to some other person to fix (yes, I'm irresponsible). The fact is that *new* adventurers come to this page, as I have observed in my friends, and so it's an especially important page to keep non-misleading.

If no one responds within 48 hours, I will change the page to reflect this change in the raffle house. On the other hand, if someone wants to share a super-secret method by which what I just said is not true, feel free to tell me.

  • You are absolutely right. In November 2008 the Raffle House prizes got changed, but we somehow forgot to update the Dressing For Success-pages accordingly. There are many little things that didn't get an update after the actual content was gone. I bet there are some items from former world-events that aren't marked as obsolete.
