L-linoleum, C-chrome, A-asbestos, m-meatstacks, x-xtreme stone, !-cave in, 0-nothing, .-not tested All non-sparkling squares are empty. Sparkling squares can contain anything.

Please notice that all the ores are in the top part of mine, and are clumped together.

I guess that first are the cave-ins, stones and meatstacks randomized accross the mine. And then there are three kinds of ore put there to fill the spaces at the top of the mine.

--JanoSicek 01:57, 26 January 2006 (Central Standard Time)

In every mine, there is also only 4 Cave-ins, 3 Meat Stacks, 3 eXtreme Stones, and 4 of each Ore, with the rest being filled up with empty rock -- Kittiwake - 3:37, 26 January 2006 (Central Standard Time)

I am pretty sure that "You start digging. You hit the rock with all your might.

You succeed in cutting away some rock."

Is a direct quote from Nethack from when you use the pickaxe. Could someone verify this?--Hamelin 11:41, 26 January 2006 (Central Standard Time)

Actually, if I'm not mistaken, there are two spaces between the sentences in NetHack. --Ihope127 20:04, 14 December 2006 (CST)

I checked the Nethack code and that's exactly the same lines I see. In Nethack you can also dig with a Dwarven Mattack (like KoL uses). Here's my pattern:

I mined a porquoise out of an non-shiny square in my first cavern i didn't managed to get the text though but it is there -IDC

These are my results. Pretty much confirms what everyone else has seen. 4 of each ore, and 3 eXtreme stones. Generally, nothing in the 1st two rows, minimal in the 3rd, and heavy in the last 2. I've also noticed that they form either and L, box, or T pattern. So there is a way to maximize your mining, once you've found it out. Kinda.--digitrev 21:44, 2 February 2006 (Central Standard Time)

  • The wiki parser doesn't allow URLs in inline styles. You could make a class in MediaWiki:Common.css for it... though that could be overkill... Working on HRWiki we made a patch for Sanitizer.php that'll fix it... if you can convince TPTB to install it, it's not as clean as an extension or anything like that... just ask if you want the details... Phlip 08:33, 26 June 2006 (CDT)
    • Aha! {{click}} gave me an idea, and it seems to work. The HTML is damn ugly, though... --Quietust 14:06, 10 July 2006 (CDT)
      • Evidently, you need to use <center></center> or embed it in a centered table in order to get this thing centered on the page - putting align="center" on the outer <div> doesn't cut it. --Quietust 10:38, 19 July 2006 (CDT)

Baconstone?

Does this actually happen? And if it does, when does it happen, how often does it occur, and does it drop hamethysts or porquoises as well? --Quietust 16:26, 26 July 2006 (CDT)

I moved the info below from the top of the discussion page. The information below is provided by the same user who added the baconstone adventure to the article.

  • Did you get the baconstone while mining? The text makes it seem like you would get it while changing caverns. --Shima 19:41, 28 July 2006 (CDT)

yes i got the bacon stone while mining, and didnt note if it was a good or empty
spot. my personal feelings is it relates to the rabbits foot, but i am not sure.
--Lord_of_ants 8/1
Nevermind that i adventured over 400 adventures in the mines with my lvl13 multi
and it had a lucky rabbits foot and got nothing. anyone else think it could be
realated to sign? LoA is under The Platypus sign, and my other char is under The
Vole
--Lord_of_ants 8/3

Sounds kinda like a clover adventure. Did you have any clovers on you when it happend? --Fireyflame 04:38, 4 September 2006 (CDT)

I will check it out tonight but i dont recall there being anything about a clover blowing up. I have been adventuring there with my multi well for over a month now and failed to get the same adventure perhaps its just a really rare adventure.--Lord of ants 21:17, 5 September 2006 (CDT)

clovers do not appear to do anything. --LoA 00:21, 17 September 2006 (CDT)

Just to keep you all in the loop i still do the complete mine several times and do not get the gem. its really really rare. --LoA 23:01, 21 December 2006 (CST)

I resurrected this page in the name of science! In 92 ascension's worth of mining, I've never, ever found a pork gem of any sort. Just to make sure, though, I completely cleared 4 caverns on a multi. Nada. I'm calling BS on it, especially since only one person's mentioned it, and they never showed any kind of solid proof. Removing it from the page. Also, while mining, I was vaguely keeping track of the cave-in damage, though I didn't copy any of it down. I'll get some solid numbers later. I had 178 HP, and the damage seemed to consistently fall within +-25% of that. I'll have to play around with my HP and see. --TechSmurf 18:04, 5 June 2007 (CDT)

Okay, just had it confirmed by a few people in my clan that pork gems do indeed drop, albeit incredibly rarely. --TechSmurf 18:22, 5 June 2007 (CDT)
