Talk:Hodgman's disgusting technicolor overcoat

Just updated this page. nvx has never ascended (so no Awaregness) and has had the overcoat drop twice. Once with all of them killed, once with only Frosty killed. Rumour has it the drop is tied to number of bosses left alive. Airin 05:31, 5 July 2008 (CDT)

Is this an ultra-rare? Despite the lack of animation, its enchantments make me think it's UR quality.--Spleenmaster 09:32, 27 June 2008 (CDT)

  • No

It's not an ultra-rare, but its' way more unlikely to drop than everything else... 29 runs in the dungeon and it never dropped so far, while everything else(except whackin' stick) did drop at least 3 times...--Worthstream 05:39, 10 July 2008 (CDT)

Got one! Left Frosty & Scratch alive, killed Hodgman in 2 rounds, had 11 people through the sewers for the run--The sofa king 05:06, 15 July 2008 (CDT)

It should drop based on a single day runs turn count. Estimate are around 2000, but it has dropped with slightly over 2000 (including sewers). Whacking Stick and Hamster occur in the same manner. --Darkwolf 10:11, 15 July 2008 (CDT)

The recent kol-addicts run that got one was 2,260 turns.--Sir Spanky 08:42, 17 July 2008 (CDT)

This is probably well-known now, but it isn't listed here. It takes a run under 2300 turns on a single day for the item to drop, after the notable number 23 in the kingdom. The hamster is 1100 and the whacking stick 3700.--Sir Spanky 11:36, 25 July 2008 (CDT)

Colors List

There must be a better way to list those colors. Something that's preferably more space-effective and aesthetically pleasing, even if we have to build it ourselves. Something, in other words, from IKEA. ;)

But seriously. If anyone has a better way to list those, feel free to make the change. --Southwest 22:05, 22 June 2008 (CDT)

I added a color table. It saves space and gives the full effect of this truly magnificent overcoat. :D Should we delete the long list and just have the color table? - Rahmuss 11:03, 28 June 2008 (CDT)

  • That table is really great :) I vote to keep it only, and delete the boringly black-and-white list --Worthstream 04:17, 7 July 2008 (CDT)

Truth! --Killerrabbit 08:12, 7 July 2008 (CDT)

I'm fairly sure it's just a reference to the song from the musical, which the Simpsons also references. Occam's razor, you know. --Silophant 22:08, 7 July 2008 (CDT)

The razor only applies when it explains all the data. The original song has about 10 colors, the Simpsons one many, many more. It's a reference to the Simpson's parody of the song. Killerrabbit 16:41, 10 July 2008 (CDT)

  • Evidence contradicts your assertion that the original song had "about 10 colors". Watch this all the way to the end and note that the woman is singing in the background for a while once you get into the second half. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tOmeUnmgtAA Bakapyrite 17:07, 10 July 2008 (CDT)

I'm going to have to agree with Silophant here - using many colors instead of the original 10 is a straightforward way to parody the original. Unless the description uses some distinct wording that was used in the Simpsons parody, I'm sure this was independent of The Simpsons. --TheArchivist 16:48, 10 July 2008 (CDT)
