Point of Goofballs

Why would anyone in their right mind, knowing what goofballs do, take them? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by Hamha109 (talkcontribs) at 16:44, 3 June 2005 (CDT).

  • To research them of course -- Lanz —The preceding signed but undated comment was added at 23:12, 12 June 2005 (CDT).
  • Take them before you ascend -- Crowther —The preceding signed but undated comment was added at 14:32, 20 September 2005 (CDT).

Withdrawl

Q: If you take goofballs, and then don't adventure, do you go into withdrawal at reset? Or does it last until you use up the hopped up runs out? --Club —The preceding signed but undated comment was added at 17:29, 20 September 2005 (CDT).

  • You do not go into Withdrawal unless you use all of your Hopped Up. As an HCO TT, I held Hopped Up for nearly a week while banking adventures. Zaku 16:28, 22 Sep 2005 (MDT)

Use Message

As far as I know, there is no "use message" at all when u use a goofball... It just says: You acquire an effect: Hopped Up on Goofballs (duration: 10 Adventures) --The preceding unsigned comment was added by Hithere (talkcontribs) at 17:50, 8 November 2005 (CST).

  • This is true. (gballs.png) I have updated the page.

Stat loss magnitude?

It is stated that after using 7 bottles of Goofballs, you start permanently losing stats. What is the magnitude of the resulting stat losses (both on the 7th bottle and on subsequent uses)? --Quietust 10:41, 23 March 2006 (CST)

I have a question about this too: if you get the point of losing stats, and then ascend, will you still lose stats if you take more?--Someone Else 06:33, 2 May 2006 (CDT)

  • Everything about goofballs is reset when you ascend. --Crowther 08:49, 2 May 2006 (CDT)

I used thirteen of them and here are the results:

Use Mus loss Mys loss Mox loss Mean
1-60000
721262323.3
824232925.3
925292727
1028424137
1148373138.7
1243383639
1340515548.7

This is very limited data and much more research is required, but it looks like the loss may be similar for every three used. Perhaps the first three (where stat loss occurs) the average loss per substat is 25, and then increases by X (10-13?) every three thereafter. Or perhaps it does increase with every use, but more substantially after every third. --TheDotGamer 18:20, 8 January 2007 (CST)

I just used 20 - here are my results: (starting as a Level 6 TT - non stat day - but that shouldn't matter)

I'm going to take more and I'll keep adding to it. And at one point I'll probably even do the averages!

What's kind of funny is I ended up with 0 Moxie :).. heh -Holler 17:56, 2 March 2007 (CST)

I've done the averages for you. I notice that your data seem to change steadily, not in any noticeable blocks of 3. --Dogface 09:06, 12 May 2007 (CDT)
hmm from what we can see there numbers seem to spread quite a lot looks roughly like 2.5-4.5*number of goofballs per stat category to me. the upper bound there seems to have been met quite a bit, where the lower bound seems a couple of .1's off. Of course a much larger test set is required to be sure of anything (at the moment i think 2.77*nbr goofballs seems to be the lowest hit) but for a rough estimate of how much pain you will cause yourself its probably close enough --Ivanchecov 10:15, 13 May 2007 (CDT)

More data! --TechSmurf 21:43, 18 December 2007 (CST)

Plural

Quite peculiar. I bought another goofballs item without using the first, and it seems that the plural is the same as it's singular. It follows the "sheep" rule in short. It should also be noted that when I try to fix this in the item metadata, it automatically changes to "Impossible to determine". Very odd, considering that you can indeed obtain more then one. Is there something I did wrong? Did I miss a minor detail? --Proto Fan 17:25, 17 September 2007 (CDT)

  • Actually the method that you were using is invalid since it is impossible to determine the plural by buying them one at a time. It was never said that you couldn't obtain more then one but of all the known methods non of them will work on this item thus far. --Chunky_boo 17:40, 17 September 2007 (CDT)

Getting Rid of the Durn Things

So I got one without knowing what it was (freebie! woo), then asked about it on chat, and was told not to take it. But there seems to be no way to drop them or sell them. How do I get rid of them? Should I take them just before ascension just so they're no longer in my inventory? Or what? Kilyle 01:53, 3 December 2007 (CST)

  • Just don't use them and you'll be fine. Stick 'em in your closet if you want to be safe. --CheezyBob 02:55, 3 December 2007 (CST)
  • Stare at them until you give in to temptation. --Holler 10:28, 2 June 2008 (CDT)
